Solved "DVBLink by DVBLogic" subforum needed in the 'PVR Help and Support' section?
#1
This has probably just been forgotten somehow, but please consider adding a new dedicated subforum for "DVBLink by DVBLogic" PVR backends here in the 'PVR Help and Support' forum?

http://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=167

PVR client addon for DVBLink by DVBLogic http://dvblogic.com already exist, and other than the PCTV Systems addon it now looks to be the only supported PVR backend without its own subforum. Another argument is that there are subforums for almost every skin for Kodi, so why not have subforums for every PVR client addon too to help spread better awareness?

Also, please don't confuse http://kodi.wiki/view/DVBLink with http://kodi.wiki/view/DVBViewer as many here seem to do, they aren't the same backends, (DVBLink is made by DVBLogic and DVBViewer is made by CM&V).

In my opinion it's better to post in the vendor's forum:
http://forum.dvblogic.com/viewforum.php?f=66

DVBLink is a COMMERCIAL product, and even though the XBMC/KODI client is free of charge I'd assume that most of the problems are in relation to the BACKEND software / system for which I have purchased a license...

In my understanding all client addons should share more or less the same code base (git master)...?

Nope, that assumption wrong.

Yes DVBLink backend is a commercial but the PVR client addon for Kodi is not being commercially developed by the DVBLogic company, and the same goes for most other backends too.

All these PVR client addons are unofficial and developed by this open source homebrew community here as specifically made only for Kodi. Most addons are not supported by the backend manufacturer. DVBLogic as a company do not support this unofficial client, just as upstream MythTV or MediaPortal do not support the PVR client addons for Kodi, they are all unofficial.

The only PVR client addons for Kodi that is officially supported upstream is the one for Tvheadend, but even they have their support subforum for it here in this forum, not in their own.

Bump! Are there any valid reason why there should not be a dedicated subforum for DVBLink here on the Kodi forums?

Still think that "DVBLink by DVBLogic" does deserves its own subforum as it's got an PVR client addon in the official repository.

Probably "PCTV Systems" should maybe have one as well now that there is an PVR client addon for it too?

BUMP!!

I've changed my mind because the vendor's support is ... horrible!
In the past weeks I've had several issues and contacted the vendor via emails - without any reply.
Not much help in their forums either...

The valid reason is that it takes me a lot of trouble when i am at work (keep getting logged out of admin panel because of changing connections), and i forget to do it when i am at home.
Also, not having a list of threads to move means more work which makes the likelyhood of postponing because of the above higher.

I've just created the forum and rearranged the existing ones to be alphabetical.

Feel free to give me a list of threads that still need to be moved there. I've moved about 20 I found but likely missed many.
