Question guys, I am going to set up an HTPC.
If I download Kodibuntu does that install directly onto the hard drive? When I boot the machine up it will boot directly into the XBMC menu?

Yes, it does. You can choose the desktop session by exiting the kodi session (exit...not shutdown). After exiting you can choose the Lubuntu session.
But for your general question, yes, kodibuntu boots directly to kodi after installation.
