Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows
Thanks bud, i see you can run trailers of movies before you sit down to watch a main movie and such like thats what i thought; prob be great if you had a cinema room to make the experience more authentic. I'll have a proper read when i get some more work done, i just keep checking the forum and its messing with my engineering zen!

Im a bit impatient (Hope i spelt that correctly i don't have a medical problem downstairs hehe) and just want the movie to play Smile

PS. your MadVR posts elsewhere are VERY informative and helped 2 friends convert to it tonight so thanks for your time putting those together.

Thanks. I am an accounting student myself and spend too much time in these forums. I think I am done editing the content put up recently until new madVR features are added.

I went back to school after getting a degree in marketing, so I use those skills now and then. But I never made it to a level where I would consider myself a polished enough writer to do these types of things easily. Too much editing and too much time. That is not why I quit, but I wouldn't say I enjoy it; I just feel compelled to document my own research.

I would say you have a great writing style imho, im more for just the cold hard facts being an engineer (And i hate the term Computer Engineer as 90% of the couldn't engineer their way out of a paper bag! altho i do consider some computer based jobs worthy of the engineer title)

I deal with offshore/onshore instrumentation plus the actual control systems DCS/ESD/F&G and such like which is awesome doing the design, its pretty good fun when im not so busy i want to scream Smile

Maybe this has been asked in this thread already but I didn't want to read all 188 pages so I'll ask here. For some reason when I minimize Kodi while a movie is playing to setup madVR, I'm not getting the icon in the task bar like it said in the original guide on page one. I was using madVR with MPC-HC prior to this and still have it all setup so I fired up MPC to see if madvr showed up there and it did. Is there something conflicting going on possibly?

Is it better to play .ts and .iso file in Kodi with MPC-HC as external player ? How would I do this ? I read some guide to use MPC-HC as external player, but since Kodi have DVDplayer+DSplayer+MPC-HC player, thing become so complicated for me.
I would like to do this:
DSplayer for : avi, mkv
DVDplayer for streaming
MPC-HC for .TS and .iso

Or any better suggestion

Please help me point out what I need to do so I can dig myself out of the problem.Blush
Is something like this possible? I'm in a similar situation where I would like to use:

DSPlayer for all video, but...
DVDPlayer for streaming
MPC-HC for DVDs (as support is far superior to DSPlayer's, where I often get broken menus, laggy overlay or non-anamorphic video)
VLC for Blu-rays (as it has the best menu support and I do not need madVR's upscaling for stuff that is already 1080p)

Getting DSPlayer and DVDPlayer sorted is easy. I've tried fiddling with playercorefactory but I cannot get VLC or MPC-HC to be shown as external players through the "Play Using" context menu option, when using Kodi DSPlayer. Does the way DSPlayer is coded not allow external players to be added?
Reply
Never mind the above. Coming back 10 minutes later after fiddling with the DVDPlayer merits through the UI seems to have stirred it into action. Does Kodi DSPlayer rely on a cache for its playercorefactory?

Help me to understand and, if possible to solve this problem, with DSPlayer, default player, I added MPC-HC as external player

playercorefactory current.

PHP Code:
<playercorefactory>
<
players>
<
player name="MPC-HC" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
<
filename>C:\Program Files\MPC-HC\mpc-hc.exe</filename>
<
args>"{1}" /fullscreen /close</args>
<
hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc>
<
hideconsole>false</hideconsole>
<
warpcursor>none</warpcursor>
<
playcountminimumtime>1140</playcountminimumtime>
</
player>
</
players>
<
rules action="prepend">
<
rule video="true" player="DSPLayer">
<
rule internetstream="true" player="DVDPlayer" />
</
rule>
</
rules>
</
playercorefactory

In the context menu (Play With) DSPlayer, it appears to be the default player functioning. IS!!!

If you launch any "MKV" movie with MPC-HC, it is not played anything; nothingness

I ask.

Perhaps there is wrong in shaping playercorefactory files?
Perhaps there is some setting to be activated in MPC-HC ?
Perhaps there is incongruity in to add external player with the current DSPlayer?

Mine works flawless and is as follows:

<playercorefactory>

<players>

<player name="MPC-HC" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
<filename>C:\Program Files\MPC-HC\MPC-HC.exe</filename>
<args>"{1}" /fullscreen /close</args>
<hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc>
<hideconsole>false</hideconsole>
<warpcursor>none</warpcursor>
<playcountminimumtime>1140</playcountminimumtime>
</player>
<rules action="prepend">
<rule filetypes="mkv|avi|divx|ogm|mp4|mov|m4v|flv|m2v|mpeg|mpg|mts|m2ts|vob|bdmv" player="MPC-HC">
<rule protocols="http|https" player="MPC-HC"/>
<rule protocols="daap|rtv|rtsp|rtmp|rtmpe|rtsp|mms|rtp|pvr" player="DVDPlayer"/>
</rule>
</rules>

</playercorefactory>

It could be MadVR or such settings or does the player work standalone?

Interested in following your model. Where would I embed this code?

@Derek.

Glad to hear that your Playercorefactory is working instead to my Playercorefactory, you must be missing something in order to start playing the movie, but what?

Moreover, a playercorefactory same as yours had already been tried with little success, MPC-HC absent from the context menu (Play With)

MPC-HC + madVR , standalone works , I want you to work in Kodi DSPlayer.

If Play using... isn't working, you have the wrong player path in your playercorefactory.xml (e.g. Program Files/ etc.).

Are you sure you chose madVR as the video renderer?

Also, perhaps you chose "Load and save in the DSPlayer database" instead of "Load from active madVR profile." Saving your madVR settings with DSPlayer instead of the madVR control panel might make the tray icon inaccessible.
