Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows
Why kodi dsplayer doesn't work with mostly any video addons? What's the main reason?
Is it possible that one day it works with any addons just like with dvdplayer?

The filters it uses (LAV) are not compatible with most streaming sources. There is partial support with rtsp|http streams. You can follow the steps to make this work at the end of this section: 1966595 (post).

i think that your problem it's with yatse

17:44:33 T:2944 DEBUG: CWinEventsWin32::WndProc: Focus switched to process C:\Yatse2\Yatse2.exe

if the focus it on another external window madvr cannot enter in exclusive mode

Thanks for spotting that - I'll have a look a why it's taking focus and try to disable.

(Might be more universal problem though particularly for two screen setups where another app more likely to be running & may have focus --- can dsplayer check/force focus prior to initalising fullscreen exclusive?)

Glenn

I know this is likely counter-productive, but I would dump Yatse and buy a Harmony remote and IR receiver.

Not sure I understand your comment

I do have harmony remote and IR receiver - yatse2 has not much to do with IR control, more info display on 2nd screen.

Thanks - believe I have fixed the issue in Yatse2 - was screenresolution check that was grabbing focus after change in refreshrate.

I already have the media rules for streaming and nothing works well...
That's so bad and it seems it will be problematic for a long time...
That's strange because lavfilters is based on ffmpeg...
I suppose there is any other alternative with dsplayer?

Did someone tried to implement mpv (libmpv) with kodi or saw an implementation with kodi somewhere?
Streaming works well with it, it has advanced upscalers like madvr, is multiplatform and works perfectly with vapoursynth.

lavsplitter can do much more than http and rtsp. also rtmp is working since lav 0.64. take a look at lav splitter settings and use lav source as source filter and not the urlfilesource.

I switched from urlsource to lavsource and the result is the same.

If I play a streaming file directly, kodi uses dvdplayer even if dsplayer is default, the media rule doesn't work as expected. I have to use the play using context menu and select dsplayer. Some video addons don't work at all or switch to dvdplayer like twitchtv, ted talks or youtube lives.

try this:

</rule>
<rule protocols="rtsp|daap|rtv|rtmp|http|https|rtmpe|mms|rtp">
<splitter filter="lavsplitter" />
<video filter="lavvideodec" />
<audio filter="lavaudiodec" />
</rule>
<!-- New rule for preferred streaming source filter -->
<rule url="true" filetypes=".*">
<source filter="lavsource" />
</rule>

you also have to delete the protocols above from playercorefactory

This is what I get inside my playercorefactory.xml file:

Code:
<playercorefactory>
    <!-- <rules action="prepend">
        <rule protocols="daap|rtv|rtsp|rtmp|http|https|rtmpe|rtsp|mms|rtp|pv" player="DVDPlayer" />
    </rules> -->
</playercorefactory>

And my mediasconfig.xml file:

Code:
<mediasconfig>
    <rules>
        <rule protocols="rtsp|daap|rtv|rtmp|http|https|rtmpe|mms|rtp">
            <splitter filter="lavsplitter" />

            <subs filter="xysubfilter" />
        </rule>
        <!-- New rule for preferred streaming source filter -->

        <rule filetypes="mkv|avi|divx|ogm|mp4|mov|m4v|flv|m2v|mpeg|mpg|mts|m2ts|ts|bdmv">

        </rule>
    </rules>
</mediasconfig>

Are they correct?

I've got some improvements, thanks Ed76.

The twitchtv video addon works perfectly with dsplayer.

The ted talks addons works too but there is no longer any subtitle.
Do the subtitles work on your system?

The vimeo video addon doesn't work with dsplayer.
Does it work on your system?

The lives from the youtube addon don't work at all with dsplayer.

I have a problem with subtitles. I have just upgraded my configuration and running 14.2 with xysubfilter but am having problems with subtitles not loading correctly. My problem is that when I download a subtitle it doesn't get displayed. Have to restart video and sometimes browse and enable subtitle again.

1. Should I do a clean install of the system with beta versions or wait for final 15?
2. Is xyvssub better that xysubfilter?

Use the isengard beta version only, I've got any problems with xysubfilter for subtitles.

I finally got DSPlayer stable and dependable after updating Yatse2 (Thanks GlennNZ!). I'm curious, when I enable FullScreen Exclusive mode (I'm using DX11` with 10bit), it takes several seconds before the video starts to show; same with switching to WIndow mode. Is there any way at all to have FullScreen Exclusive AND Window Mode switch delay reduced down to 1 second or so? If so, what specifically should I change in the settings?

If it will cause dropped frames temporarily (when starting too soon), I can live with that.

hi,
i dont use this addons.
in your playercorefactory you define the protocols used with dvd player (= kodis internal player). thats why you have to delete there the protocols that are included in mediasconfig (=dsplayer).

start kodi and play a internet stream that will not work with dsplayer. go to folder "roaming" and open kodi.log file. you will see below the url kodi tries to open. whats the protocol? is it a protocol defined in mediasconfig? if not you have to include it and try again. lav support a wide range of protocols.

I've got this, there is a problem to play url with "plugin" protocol.
By plugin protocol, does it mean flash player? If yes, how to bind it with dsplayer just like dvdplayer?
