10Bit is impossible to get no matter what, the only option i got is 8bit and 12bit. Will setting 12bit allow 10bit MadVR dithering without the driver interfering?

it's an nvidia limitation. there is no 10 bit option if 12 bit is possible too.

you could get "10 bit" to the display if this has nay benefit is a whole different story only the HDR compatible UHD screen are 10 bit.

Big thanks to the author of DSPlayer. My HTPC is working great thanks to this.
Currently running a GTX 670 HDMI out to Onkyo AVR to a Panasonic VT65 Plasma.
Using just the internal LAV filters XYSubfilter and Reclock.
I can use all the Scaling algorithms fine, except for Nnedi3 when Chroma upscaling. The video plays (1080p) but it's just a mess of green artifacts. I have done the exact same setup on my desktop PC which uses a GTX970 and Nnedi works fine.

Both machines are using the latest nVidia drivers.

Any ideas? It's driving me nuts!
I'll be back later if you need any more info.

Cheers

which windows version and are you using CUVID if yes use copyback and try again.

Sorry out atm on my phone. Windows 10, both CUVID and copyback have been tried, same problem.

If I want to upgrade to the latest release, will I lose all of my settings? I have the previous dsplayer version of Kodi installed currently on Windows 10

Try software decoding by selecting None. Also, if you are using the D3D11 presentation path, try D3D9 instead.

No, overwrites are permitted. Your settings will carry-over. With that said, you should make a backup of your Kodi userdata and addons folders now and again.

The one problem that I can't seem to figure out has to do with skipping chapters in DVD rips that are in a folder structure. If I make DVDPlayer the default player it recognizes the chapters and I can skip backwards and forwards. However, this is not the case with DSPlayer as the default. I tried searching the forum to see if anyone else has reported this issue but I didn't much. Any ideas on whether this is a known issue and whether or not there are workarounds besides setting up a rule to play DVD content with DVDPlayer? Thanks!

I tried messing around with additional settings, but DSPlayer will still not let me skip chapters like DVDPlayer. Any ideas? Thanks again.

If I'm not wrong you need FFDShow to run SVP, but how do I run madVR and FFDShow simultaneously is what I'm asking I guess?

To get so working with DSPlayer you need to add ffdshow raw as an external filter. Once you play a video it should work. For my current htpc it works with SVP 3.1.7, but doesn't work with SVP 4. My new htpc I'm building right now works with both versions of SVP.

Cheers, that worked like a charm. Now to get SVP 4 Full version so that the fine tuning can begin...
Where do I find recommended values and settings for madVR by the way? Upscaling to 1080p from 720p and 540p is my main use.

With that set-up, I would recommend trying the following:

Profile: "1080p"
  • Chroma: super-xbr125 + AR
  • Image: Jinc3 + AR
  • Image Doubling: Off
  • Upscaling Refinement: Off
  • Artifact Removal - Debanding: Medium/High
  • Image Enhancements: FineSharp (strength: 0.5)
  • Dithering: Error Diffusion 2
Profile: "720p"
  • Chroma: super-xbr125 + AR
  • Image: Jinc3 + AR
  • Double Luma: 1.2x or greater - super-xbr125
  • Double Chroma: 1.2x or greater - super-xbr125
  • Downscaling: Catmull-Rom + AR + LL
  • Upscaling Refinement: SuperRes (strength: 1, sharpness: 2)
  • Artifact Removal - Debanding: Medium/High
  • Image Enhancements: Off
  • Dithering: Ordered
Profile: "SD"
  • Chroma: super-xbr125 + AR
  • Image: Jinc3 + AR
  • Double Luma: 2x or greater - super-xbr125
  • Double Chroma: 2x or greater - super-xbr125
  • Upscaling Refinement: SuperRes (strength: 1, sharpness: 2)
  • Artifact Removal - Debanding: Medium/High
  • Image Enhancements: Off
  • Dithering: Ordered

madVR profile rules:

if (srcWidth = 1920) or ((srcHeight > 720) and (srcHeight <= 1080)) "1080p"
else if (srcWidth = 1280) or ((srcHeight > 540) and (srcHeight <= 720)) "720p"
else if ((srcWidth <= 960) or (srcHeight <= 540)) "SD"

I have an overclocked GTS 450 and now use super-xbr for everything. This $50 GPU is all you would need if your display is 1080p. 4K scaling requires a much better card.

super-xbr is almost as good as NNEDI3, but much cheaper. Flipping back and forth, I can see NNEDI3 is a little more in-focus, but a bit softer. A setting of 150 will ring a little bit, while 125 is a nice middle-ground between the softer-nature of 100 and the ringing of 150. Image Doubling and SuperRes go very well together, even with 720p content.

With SVP also use a lot of GPU load, you should try it yourself because as I remember Warner306 doesn't use SVP so his settings usually based on non-SVP settings.

Need some recommendation on setting up DSplayer with madvr on Intel Nuc5i5 with integrated graphic HD6000. I get no DTS-HD when using dsplayer. But when I disable dsplayer I get dts-hd. ??

It needs to be enabled in the lavfilters

from the dsplayer setup menu choose audio filters, and put a checkmark into all the audio formats that you can bitstream. and I believe DTS-HD may need another file / dll towork. if i remember correctly from the lavfilters doom9 page.

"BluRay Support
Support for opening BluRay playlists (.mpls), as well as the index.bdmv file, which will try to detect the main movie playlist!
Full support for Seamless Branching Blu-rays as well as HD audio (full DTS-HD support depends on the ArcSoft decoder DLL being installed, see the FAQ)"

bit streaming doesn't need anything. the older lavfilter version couldn't decode DTS HD by it self but that's now possible but this has nothing to do with bitstreaming.

DSPlayer will get more chance to be included in Kodi if it will be implemented as fully isolated component like DVDPlayer -> VideoPlayer will be. Please follow to this forum http://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=240

i'm following quietly those discussions with great interest, and it's sure that when the job will be almost done i will do my best to implement DSPlayer in that way

Ok, it's as I suspected. With the way VideoPlayer is shaping up, DSPlayer could be one of several video playback add-ons, for Windows only.

let me explain better my first response on that, yes maybe DSPlayer could be adapted in future to be a possible one of "videoplayer addons" if and when the job will be done in the main branch, but this would not change the final result, even if in this hypothetical future DSPlayer was accepted as one of the official video player for Windows, because there would be always only one developer for DSPlayer with all the limits for a so much big project, the real step forward there could be if dsplayer and the madvr integration were recognized for the importance they deserve, so more developer for windows, for directshow filters / renderers...

Hi Aracnoz, I fully understand what you are saying. I personally don't know why your awesome job so far hasn't attracted developers interested in helping. But I think nothing from Team Kodi stops you from seeking them. I'm not a coder, so I don't know how one would go looking for volunteers on such a job. I know that if I was a coder I would jump on the chance to help on DSPlayer. Even more so now that a road is appearing for it to be "officially" available as an option (referring to the recent VideoPlayer developments).
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

This might be a general Kodi question, but sometimes when streaming videos, the "opening stream" message pops up and stays up even after the video starts playing. Any way to get rid of this?

I just updated to the latest versions of Kodi DSPlayer and Launcher4Kodi, and Alt-F4 no longer works to immediately close Kodi.

I have my Logitech remote programmed to send Alt-F4 as a "quit" command when powering off after using Kodi. Until now, it's worked to immediately exit Kodi. Now, however, Alt-F4 brings up the exit menu and I still have to navigate to "exit Kodi" as a second step.

Any ideas on why this functionality would have changed and what I can do to fix it?

Going to take some win+printscreens tonight when the TV is free so you can see all my settings.
Sorry about posting without showing more info, was in a rush!
This problem has been driving me mad since Tuesday.

Launcher4Kodi now catches Alt+F4. So this has nothing to do with DSPlayer. The developer has indicated this will be changed for the next version.
