(2016-02-21, 22:22)mkohman Wrote: Dear all, please forgive me for my ignorance. I am not new to KODI by any means, however I am new to DSplayer so I have very limited experience and knowledge. Your help will be greatfully appreciated.

I have 3 fromats of files I view and thats all I am interested in. All movies are 1080p and are either .mkv, .iso (bluray .iso) or .bdmv (bluray folder rip).

I have read through the very detailed Kodi DSPlayer guide with MadVR and Lavfilters etc. So far what I have done, I have downloaded the Kodi DSPlayer latest Jarvis version, Lav Filters and the XYsubtitle program (sorry can't remember the proper name). I have installed all three and followed some of the settings in the guide.

I have no issues in playing .mkv bluray remux files with DSPlayer as primary player but the other two formats (.iso and .bdmv) files do not play with DSPlayer. Can anyone please advise if there is a setting I need to enable for these files to be played with DS Player. Previously with the normal official KODI I used to play my .bdmv and .iso (3d Bluray movies) with an external player like TMT Player.

Can you please advise if this is possible to do with DSPlayer and how.

The guide is very confusing for me. I appreciate this may be very easy for most people but I am finding it a little hard to work my way through it. All I want to do is use DS Player for all file types with MadVR and be able to do bitstreaming..

All your advice and help is much appreciated. Thank you .

DSPlayer doesn't support ISO but does support BDMV. Although, I think your problems with BDMV have something to do with LAV Video and madVR. Support for 3D BDMV has not yet been added (I think I made a typo stating it was supported). 3D ISO is not supported by madVR, either.

If you want to play your 3D ISO files with madVR, wait for official support or use MakeMKV to convert the file to an MKV. A link to MakeMKV is found at the end of this section. It will convert the ISO into an MKV container in an hour or less. You might be able to convert your BDMV files as well, but it could be possible DSPlayer will support these files when madVR does. The ISOs, of course, will never be supported.

I have run one test with an uncompressed 3D Blu-ray ISO by converting it into an MKV with MakeMKV. DSPlayer played it fine.

Thank you for your reply. So If I convert my 3D.iso files to .mkv will they actually play as a 3D movie or 2D? Also would I be comprimising on video and audio quality? How do I get DSPlayer to play.bdmv files?

On the off note , I have a Darbee Darblet connected to my chain just before the projector on a 120" screen. Is it a pointless exercise using DS Player and MadVR if I have a video processor like Darbee Darblet 5000s?

Many thanks

MakeMKV just changes the container of the video stream -- it does not do anything to the audio or the video. MKV and Blu-ray discs (the actual disc) are the only 3D formats working with madVR at the moment. In the future, more formats may be supported. So the quality will be identical.

The Darbee and madVR would compete with each other if you use image sharpening (which is called upscaling refinement and image enhancements in madVR). I would use one or the other to sharpen the image, but not both. Both are a form of post-process image sharpening and should not be confused with chroma upscaling or image upscaling, which must be done by madVR with or without Darbee. madVR's image sharpening is much harder to adjust for various content compared to Darbee. I'm not sure which would produce the superior result.

It is not a pointless exercise to use madVR. It will produce better image quality than other media players; especially, Kodi DVDPlayer. But the Darbee can make any media player look good. madVR can be especially good with 3D Blu-ray compared to other players.

You are awesome RC4 was the smoothest running Kodi EVER so i great hopes for the final, does that mean your taking the project on or just tweaking a little?

Either way you have my 100% support

Wanilton was kind enough to compile what left of aracnoz's dsplayer code with latest main kodi branch. He changed very little codes to make it compiled successfully and updated bundled internal filters a bit. But as he stated before he didn't take mantra as main dev for this project, so don't expect any added features or fixes from him.

Ok one can only hope wanilton or some other equally superior minded person will take ownership!

Thank you for your reply. Is there any benefit to using DSPlayer in terms of audio (bitstream)? Also if you were me would you stick to the new Jarvis official release and Darbee or do I go with the MadVR setup and use Darbee with it?

The thing is I don't know which settings to choose. In your user manual you cover every single setting and I am not sure which ones I should select or which to leave alone.. would appreciate your advice.

Many thanks

I want to setup DSPlayer and MadVR but I am not sure of which settings I need to select? Is there an easier userguide? All I need is to view .mkv and bdmv files Im not interested in streaming or youtube etc. I will used external player for .iso files for my 3D bluray movies.

Hmm, Badsically install it, goto DSPlayer setings:

Do the following and i make no promises i wont miss anything as theres a LOT but i'll try, no screenshots mind you and this is MY working setup.

Use as def video player = Check
- DVDPlayer merits = None i only play mkv
Video renderer = madshi video renderer (MadVR)
- Manage settings with Kodi = Load and save with DSPlayer database
- Delay playback until render queue is full = check
- Use in fullscreen Exclusive mode = uncheck
- Force to stop..... GREYED OUT
Audio renderer = System defaut
Filters management = internal filters

Jesus i stated this in good faith but my brain hasnt got the strength just now to type it all out Especially when its all done already by people with screen shots. Its a peice of pee to setup mate just trial and error it if you get stuck i will quite happily guide you in the right direction but i forgot how many checkboxes there are thats without configuring the codecs externally.

ASK ASK ASK thats my advice i started this in good faith and will continue just ask me mate.

I must have touched some parameter, I can not remember where it is and what it's called. Huh
The problem is this; when you bring it into Kodi window, the subtitles they remain in the original screen size.

Sincerely thank you

Those subs must be via the codec your using which one and can you take a screenshot of the codec page?
