OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 15.0) Part 2
Yes with a dvd copy made to be mkv I can play like 10 minutes and then it just "freezes"

The cpu is at 100%. 1 cpu at a time. it switches from CPU0 at 100% to CPU3 at 100%.

the fps is at 7, but the movie is just frozen.

But on my Nexus 5 (android) it also crashes but after 35 minutes or so. the video "crashes" back to Kodi. it doesn't take down Kodi itself.

The raspberry also stays responsive, just the video freezes.

I think it's just the big encoding bitrate (4gb for 2 hours) and the weakness of the Pi2.

I don't know if it shows up in the log file, because it doesn't crash, just slows down to 7fps and 100% cpu.

What do you guys think?

The cable said High Speed HDMI with Ethernet, so I thought it should work but I had another one which says the same and that seems to work better. I don't get the error popup anymore but still the remote does nothing and I can't see in the log that the RPi is registering any key presses http://pastebin.com/GN8pVtMS

I installed OE 5.0.8 to check whether it was any different and with that I do see a popup about registering the TV CEC after XBMC loads, which I don't see with #418 but still the remote has no effect and I'm not seeing any keypresses registering in the log http://pastebin.com/iiAETsqP

First second (or 2) of audio is not played.

Check this thread where the start of audio being missed in mentioned. Not a Pi specific issue.
I've pulled in PR7035 which aims to reduce this (although doesn't remove the delay).

4GB for 2 hours is not high bitrate. My Pi2 plays raw BluRay rips at 40GB for 2 hours.

Do all files do this? Does it freeze at the same point each time or is it random?
Can you post a debug log (wiki)?
I will make a log this week/weekend. It's just 1 movie, I'm not really bothered by it. But i'll help you with the debug log. Hope it helps.

It would still be very cool to see the movie play especially knowing I helped fixing it.

If you have had hangs or stuttery video with dvd playback then please test latest build.

I've had the same issue. It was worse with MMAL enabled.

  1. New firmware

  3. kernel: Disable MMC feature that may be linked to SD corruption

Does that have anything to do with the 3D MVC MKV playback? Since that's gone after the update for me. If yes could it be that MMC feature means MVC feature? Sorry if that's a too dumb question. Got my RPI just for a few days now so it's still all new to me.

Can you provide a sample file that is stuttery with latest build?
Hi. Should autostart.sh undar storage autostart or not? ATM it is not running. If I run it manually then it works.

No, MMC is not related to MVC.
Nothing has changed with MVC for a while. If you have problems can you confirm the latest build that works for you and the earliest build that fails.

Boo ya!

I did a quick test with a few DVD iso files and all of them played perfectly!

Thanks a lot for your hard work guys!

and It need to add external lib ( libvpx ) to ffmpeg and I don't know if openelec team is interested or will allow that

You can PR against my newclock4 branch for wider testing (or just point me at a diff that you are using).
If testing is positive then you could PR upstream (to Kodi ideally, although it won't be accepted until after Isenguard release).

Sorry for the late answer. Work .....

I'm not a coder and not really an expert in package.mk things.
What I did in OpenELEC.TV dir is:
- Build libvpx with this script : http://pastebin.com/G8NpjVJJ
- Apply this package.mk patch : http://pastebin.com/kdyGpCiZ
- and Aplly this ffmpeg patch : http://pastebin.com/Y29qNWuQ

Could this help you to test if your interested ?
Here is a little vp9/webm sample if you want to try the speed difference : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3hIUz8...sp=sharing
