Kodi on Philips 55PUS9109
#1
Hi.

I have a Philips 55PUS9109 android based TV.
I also have a Seagate external HDD with movies on.
I have connected the HDD via USB cable to the TV.

My question is; can I install Kodi on the TV, find the movies on the HDD and play them? Sounds simple, but i am totally new to this.

Hope someone will help me.

I can see there is a forked Kodi called 'Spmc' for that type of TV, don't know much else but it might be a place for you to start looking.

SPMC (wiki) Wink
But nothing specific for TV's in SPMC, really.

Please try http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/andr...bi-v7a.apk .
This alpha version should fix an issue with volume control on TV + Android and I'd like to have confirmation this actually work before committing (afaik, no team member has an android-enabled TV)

[EDIT] Oh, IIRC you can only install from the play store on Phillips, right?
If so, see http://spmc.semperpax.com/ and enroll in the beta channel. You'll get SPMC 14.2 from the store, which includes the volume fix.

I have downloaded the Kodi 15 Isengaard beta and it works perfectly.

I basically just followed theese instructions by a guy called RockerC which I found on another post in this forum. If anybody would be interested I have copied the steps:

It appears to be information available about experimental volunteering for Beta and Alpha testing via Google Play Store on Kodi's Google+ Community Groups

First you need to register yourself as a member of the Kodi Beta or Alpha group. Beta builds should of course be a little the more stable, while the Alpha group gets the latest bleeding-edge builds, both any Alpha and Beta releases are should of course always be considers unstable and only to be used at your own risk.

https://plus.google.com/communities/1019...9318548671

https://plus.google.com/communities/1081...1505359159

Secondly you need to click an agreement for receiving Beta/Alpha builds

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.xbmc.kodi

Once you registered as a member of either the Beta or the Alpha group and clicked on the agreement then you will have to download the Kodi 15.0 (Isengard) installer from the Google Play Store so that you can have the app update automatically. You need at minimum Android 4.2 on your device and Google Services is obviously required on your device, and important is that you use the same account as you use for Google Play store when accepting the agreement.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai....xbmc.kodi

This will provide auto-updates via Google Play Store just like any other Android app downloaded from there. You can cancel receiving the Alpha and Beta builds by visiting the same https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.xbmc.kodi

It works just as i wan't it to.

Thanks for your replies Smile

I feel like an idiot, I wrote that and then realised what it is and that I use it myself Sad

Kodi 15.0 beta 2 is available in the normal play store now.
I installed it yesterday on my 65PUS9109/12. When I open it, it starts a first setup and then just quit.
What else did you do to get it running?

Were you given the opportunity to submit a bug report via Google Play?

No. It just quits.

Tested again. Now I can start it, strange.
No time to test if everything works at the moment, but happy that it starts ;-)

On my 65PUS9109 it is also working. But video is stuttering. Music plays fine. Do you have video working?

I am using the isengard rc on my Pus8809.

Video is running well but sometimes it looks like there's a problem with the cache.

The reaction isn't allways smooth and sometimes the system stucks when I am navigating through Kodi for half a minute.

Is there any workaround to fix that?

Sorry for my bad English, I am writing from Germany to you.
