Hi I am using ubuntu 14.04.2 with Kodi 14.2.

Sometimes when I am watching a video the screen just freezes but the audio continues to play. I can not control Kodi and the only thing I can do is to kill it from terminal

Wrong kernel.

Use the forum search, please. There is a kernel bug in every kernel < 3.18.5. Furthermore you miss the correct drivers for vaapi (1.5.1)
