Hi,

I was hoping to be able to figure this out by simply reading through other posts, however I must admit that I could use some guidance.
I've had a jail-broken AppleTv 2 for about 3 years now, and was always able to have it fixed by the guy that sold it to me. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reach him for a little over a month, and would like to learn how to update/fix it on my own.
I do not have much tech experience, however I am very good at following instructions. The problem is, I don't really know where to start, nor do I understand the jargon (ex: SSH).

Would any of you be so kind as to detail what steps I need to follow (and programs I need to download), or perhaps link to the appropriate threads?

I am currently still running XMBC, as opposed to Kodi.

Thanks in advance

You should stay whatever xbmc version is installed. The device is limited by memory (256 MB). Unless you really wanted a feature from Kodi, old version from xbmc 12.3 to onward should be fine. Most people has to revert back from Kodi to xbmc after they installed Kodi. You should see here: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_on_Apple_TV_2

Some of the add-ons have crashed and are no longer loading content. If I stay with XBMC, is there something I can do to rectify the issues?
How do I "reset" the software i am running?

I am currently running XBMC 13.1 "Gotham".
Should I be updating to 12.3 (or better)?

If yes, how would I go about doing that?
