since all the scriptwriters aim to integrate their script perfectly with the look and feel of xbmc and i wanted to do this also.
so i was wondering:

is there a default "neutral" background for scripts in the skins?
with "neutral" i mean one with no special structure on it. i use "background" but in pm3 it has the special pane for the list on the right. my script needs the whole width for text display , so i can't really use this one.  once there was one, i thought it came from changelogview.py. but in the newer builds it isn't included any more.

is there some other i can use ordo we (scriptwrites) need an extra background?

background.png should be the generic one and it is unfortunate that pm3 has that division. there isnt really any alternative one currently. you can though get the skin name in python and use an alt background for pm3.
