Any new progress ?

Hm, no more users interested for this project.
I just start small donate (2 EUR). I will donate up to 30 EUR if this project finished.

I asked Potplayer developer for help.
Here is his answer:

Quote:That is very simple...

Use Direct3D..

And detect refresh HZ...

Odd frame display left image...

Even frame display right image...

But, I told him that Pi2 has OpenGL graphics card.

He answered:
Quote:So..

I don't know~~

i do not know if this is helpful info or not, but im pretty sure that the directx11 kodi builds have solved this output option already, and while i understand its using directx and not opengl, maybe the dev team working on that build are more familiar with the working output stream in practice for 3d dlp ready units?

might be worth a cross post to ask for help?

Has this work come any further. I have stopped using Kodi/XBMC for over two years since I could not play 3D in it. So I was very excited when I found out that 3D support had been added but guess my disappointment when I discovered that DLP was not one of the 3D output modes. So for me it is must or I will need to switch to another system for 3D, which mean I will probably run all media on that instead of Kodi.

Not a very constructive post but ivota asked if anybdy else wanted this feature and I do.

For testing this feature any 120Hz monitor/projector should do with some DLP shutter glasses,

Hello to all,

Any progress on this topic?

I do have:
DLP Glasses
3x RPi2 Customs Openelec 5.0.8 (among other things: config.txt edited to support hdmi_mode=47)
DLP Projector (LG PW700) wich supports:
Frame Sequential: to 720p @ 120Hz
Frame Packing: to 720p @ 120Hz

Is there any temporal solution?
Is there any permanent solution?
Is there any hardware deadend?
Is it worthy to donate to this topic, or it is a forgotten thread?

Thank you very much to all for a Kodi:constant evolving project...

Thanks for interest.
We collect a big amount of people?
If you don't want to wait, you can try to find hw solution: 3D DLP Converter, search ebay, price is about 80$.

I googled, I found something about 3D Frame Sequential for the PlayStation 3 (used OpenGL) 60fps.
I don't know if this help? DLP need 120fps.

I'm bringing this back to life....

So using hardware 3d process and letting it pull correctly I find that the project is sending to my glasses but keeps one eye blacked out. I am using a full blown 3D Blu-ray so nothing non-standard and I'm using the Jurassic Park 3D Blu-ray. This works fine with PowerDVD 16 when playing 3D seems to be working and glasses work correctly but then the support on Kodi seems close but not quite.

I really want to switch to using Kodi for everything but special features(no blu-ray menu support...yet). I am using this projector

and I am using this computer.

What does this have to do with Raspberry Pi?

It does not but the functionality is missing either way.

Is there anyway this topic could get moved to where it makes more sense? I don't want to distract from Pi development but this is still a general missing feature that would be awesome to have.

Why not start a new thread in Feature Requests? Include a link here if it's relevant.

Far be it from me to say what features Kodi should support but the writing is on the wall for 3D in general, with most TV manufacturers offering reduced support for 3D in their latest models. Not sure about light cannons, but I'd expect the same argument to apply to projectors too - it makes devices more complicated and expensive, with potentially reduced overall picture quality, all for very little gain as the number of consumers demanding 3D is not significant.

I'd also expect to see less and less content from Hollywood over time, for the simple reason that display manufacturers are turning their backs on 3D which - as a consumer format, at least - has failed (again).

Apart from Kodi platforms that support 3D natively (ie. Raspberry Pi, possibly some other Android based devices) IMHO I'd see little point investing development time into other platforms to create support for a format that is, by general consensus, already dead.

I could be wrong though. You'll get more accurate and useful feedback in a Feature Requests thread.
