After flashing VTI 8.2.1 XMBC network media files have zero duration
What I did:
VTI 8.2.1 flashed from USB
XBMC package removed during setup
Restored settings and playlist
Restored Pluginlist, including reinstall XBMC (Gotham 13.2)
When I want to play files from my NAS (NFS source), I can see and browse everything, also the mediaplayer starts, but the duration is zero (zero length time), so nothing happens.
The same file can be played when selected directly from the NAS through the mediaplayer

XBMC does play files from the HDD of my VU+Duo2.

Please advice

Sorry, but unfortunately you are probably not going to be able get support here with a VTi image for a Vu+ set-top box, at least not until the code gets merged upstream into mainline.

Suggest you try downstream in this German Vu+ support forum instead http://www.vuplus-support.org/wbb3/index...boardID=38
(Looks like support for their latest image can be found here here http://www.vuplus-support.org/wbb3/index...adID=78408 )

Otherwise checkout this thread here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=213084 "Vu+ (VuPlus) DVB set-top boxes now have a native source port of XBMC/Kodi!"

Basically, the port of Kodi/XBMC for Vu+ set-top boxes is not from the official Kodi team (here at the kodi.org site) and the port itself at a very early stage at not at all mature or stable, and most core features in Kodi are not even working yet, and functions not yet working include PVR client addon for Vu+ or hardware video decoding playback via Kodi. So unless you are are developer yourself that can help the project I would not really recommend using current Vu+ hardware for Kodi at all.

For support in English get some more information here http://www.satnigmo.com/2787/xbmc-kodi-vu-coming-soon/ about the other third-party images for Vu+ with this Kodi/XBMC port.

If you absolutely want to use Kodi/XBMC on a single DVR device today for a more feature mature and stable experience then you should probably instead have purchased a WeTek Play.

EDIT: Maybe I misread question and you are actually not using Kodi/XBMC on your Vu Duo 2 box and instead on a computer, if that's the case then just install Kodi 15 (Isengard) Beta.
It is hard to support the now old Kodi 13 (Gotham) today, so at the very least install latest Kodi 14 (Helix), or again better yet install the latest Kodi 15 (Isengard) Beta or newer.

RockerC, thanks for your elaborate answers. I will check the links of course (already posted the issue on the vuplus-support form).
But it does not sound very hopeful alltogether.
And you read my question well: it is about the VuPlus Duo2. On my PC I already use Kodi (14), and that works perfectly.

RockerC,

It looks like the XBMC application is installed on my VU+Duo2 separately. It is not a part of the VTI image, as VTI only uses a launcher to start XBMC.
Is it possible to install and run Kodi on the VU+ stand-alone ? In the end it is a Linux machine.

What do you mean by "run Kodi on the VU+ stand-alone"? Kodi is an application and not an operating system, however you can probably install Kodi on almost any later Linux image for Vu+ with a newer kernel. If you mean install Kodi on an existing image from third-parties or an original image from Vu+ themselves than I suppose maybe so as long as you first install all dependencies, sorry but I kow nothing specifically about Vu+ development myself, I just quest it is similar to development on other embedded systems that are based on Linux.

Though unless you are a developer yourself then I suggest you use latest images being released by the Black Hole Team, the OpenATV team, the VTi team, or the OpenViX (ViX) teams.
I read that Kodi is suppose to be better on Open Black Hole images now, but even so they will still very unstable and most features are not yet working, incl. native hardware decode.

If you are just a user then I suggest you forget about trying to get support from here and instead try ask over at http://www.vuplus-community.net or http://www.vuplus-support.org

Again, I would not even recommend you to try to use Kodi on a Vu+ device unless you are a developer that are willing to contribute to the development, it's just not mature enough yet.

And as a user you will not really be able to get any support or here on the kodi.tv forum today as no other Vu+ owners do not hang around here and noone here develops Kodi for Vu+. I know that it's really sad that Vu+ as a company have not made a greater effort to embrace the Kodi community here at the official kodi.tv forum and engaged Kodi's team developers.

Ok RockerC, you made it clear. I am just a user and a bit annoyed about the (lack of) Kodi integration in the VU+
Thanks.
