I have updated my advancedsettings.xml to set the recently added to 65 movies. Unfortunately i still get the default 25.

THe log indicates that the correct advancedsettings.xml is being read

The odd part is that sometimes I get 65 and other times I get 25 movies in the lsit

Are you talking about on the home screen or in the recently added node when you go into the video library? There's actually two "recently added" views, for some reason that I don't understand. One is built-in and can be changed with the advancedsettings.xml file, and the other is a video node (wiki) that can be changed with an XML file. I'm not sure which is used for what parts of Kodi, but this has tripped me up a few times myself.

This is the recently added node when you go in via Movies. Where would I make the change to control the behavior of that Recently Added menu choice

That one needs a video node (wiki) xml file change.
