Solved Getting TVHeadend to work [HTSP disconnections]
#1
Dear all,

I recently wanted to change my setup to have a central DVB-S/ S2 appliance in my network. The card I chose was a Digital Devices Cine S2 (v6.5), my system is a Debian Wheezy based one with OpenMediaVault on top of it.
So I installed the drivers according to it's necessities and was able to install TVHeadend 3.9.2827~g477feab~wheezy on my box.
The first configuration worked - after some problems - quite well and about 800 channels were able to be mapped.
So far, so good. But finally, I wanted to have the Live-TV via Kodi on Amazon Fire TVs and a Windows machine, so I installed the TVHeadend HTSP Client (v 1.9.40) and configured it according to my needs (IP Adress, and user/ pass as set in the Access entries tab on TVH).
On one of my machines (the Windows one), the EPG was read, but when I try to access the Live TV, I receive an error in Kodi, stating "HTSP Client: stream setup error" and "Disconnected from Server".
The logfile on the server side says:

Code:
Jun 16 22:15:33 OMV tvheadend[1624]: htsp: Got connection from 192.168.1.20
Jun 16 22:15:33 OMV tvheadend[1624]: htsp: 192.168.1.20: Welcomed client software: XBMC Media Center (HTSPv8)
Jun 16 22:15:33 OMV tvheadend[1624]: htsp: 192.168.1.20 [ XBMC Media Center ]: Identified as user tvh
Jun 16 22:15:33 OMV tvheadend[1624]: htsp: 192.168.1.20 [ tvh | XBMC Media Center ]: Privileges raised
Jun 16 22:15:33 OMV tvheadend[1624]: htsp: unable to create profile chain 'matroska'
Jun 16 22:15:35 OMV tvheadend[1624]: htsp: 192.168.1.20 [ tvh | XBMC Media Center ]: Disconnected

The client on the Windows machines states:

Code:
22:13:54 T:7736   ERROR: AddOnLog: Tvheadend HTSP Client: CHTSPConnection::ReadResult - 'subscribe to channel' failed - Stream setup error
22:13:54 T:7736   ERROR: AddOnLog: Tvheadend HTSP Client: CHTSPDemux::SendSubscribe - failed to subscribe to channel 1681037008, consider the connection dropped
22:13:54 T:7736   ERROR: AddOnLog: Tvheadend HTSP Client: CHTSPDemux::OnConnectionRestored - failed to subscribe to channel 1681037008
22:13:54 T:7736  NOTICE: AddOnLog: Tvheadend HTSP Client: CHTSPConnection - CHTSPConnection::SendGreeting - connection opened to 'HTS Tvheadend 3.9.2827~g477feab~wheezy', protocol v20

From my point it has to be an issue between TVHeadend and Kodi, as when I try to access the live TV via VLC, it works.

What I did so far after reading several sites on the net was to:

- Set the "Full DiseqC" to enabled,
- set the standard streaming of the user to matroska and
- a complete reinstallation.

Unfortunately, none of these methods did the trick. Therefore I hope to any suggestion on how to solve my problems.
Thank you for your feedback,
best regards,

Connor

Try with Kodi v15 beta instead, the addon has been reworked since the last version and shouldn't have these issues anymore. While you're at it you should probably update your tvheadend to the 4.0 branch (which is the "new stable" branch).

Thanks for your feedback, I will try this.
The 4.0 branch is AFAIK for Debian 8.X only, so I would have to setup a VM - How much RAM would you advise, as I haven't found spec recommendations on a TVHeadend server?

Just as a feedback, it turned out to be a configuration problem.
When using a HTSP client, it might be wise to also use a HTSP stream... Blush
