After a clean install on a PC I cannot access the terminal via Ctrl+Alt+Fn1 nor update skins. How do I upload logs for debugging?
I now understand it is a connectivity problem. The computer gets an IP address but kodi claims it is not connected to the internet. Other devices are connected and also the kodibunto device pulled much data while installing

It's not ctrl+alt+fn1....it's ctrl+alt+f1to access the terminal.

You can get a terminal via SSH (wiki) and using Putty, too. Or you switch to the desktop environment like I explained here: Kodibuntu (wiki) and use the terminal from there.

I think we don't need a logfile, but we need the outputs from

ifconfig

and (for being sure nothing else is set):

But as a Debug Log will not hurt, you could follow the link or do:

cat ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log

If you have a terminal open, you coud try to ping your router or just trying to ping a website which will answer the ping (www.kodi.tv does).

Thanks.
First, what do you mean by f1? The function key ? Tried it didn't work. When I try to exit I get a white login screen.
When I login I have on screen showing kodi and the other white kodi wall paper which is empty and not responsive.
I SSHed the PC and managed to do apt-get update and upgrade. Didn't help neither but download a bunch load of stuff so internet is there but Kodi thinks it isn't.

I can't see any obvious why you can't connect to the internet if the HTPC got its ip via dhcp. Except there might be something wrong in your router. So i would check that first. The issue I can see in the log ("can't resolve hostname") confirms that you can't connect.

You can try to give that device another static IP and see if it helps. If you do this, don't forget to enter something for the DNS ( I use the same IP as for the gateway).

...don't post logfiles here in forums. Mostly they are long, so please use sites like pastebin.com and post the url here.

Thanks again, but I believe this is not a Router problem, because when I SSH I can apt-get update, so there is internet connection in the host, just that Kodi is not seeing it.

Is kodi starting before networking is up? Try booting to kodi, then kill kodi. It will start again, hopefully with networking recognised.

Oh...wait...did you set up a proxy? The message is

If yes, try removing the proxy.

If you like to, you could do a factory reset (all addons and settings will be gone). If you want to:

mv ~/.kodi ~/kodi_old

and reboot.

The addons and settings were gone but backuped in the kodi_old folder. So you are able to restore...

rm ~/.kodi && mv ~/kodi_old ~/.kodi

reboot

The above is a 'one-liner'. Please don't do it as two commands. If you do it anyway...be aware NOT to reboot between them.
