All album artwork is the same for multiple artists in same folder
#1
I am having an issue where I have about 50 mp3's in a folder, all by different artists. When I point Kodi to the folder it imports the album artwork from one of the tracks and uses it for all of the artists which is really annoying. I have tried reinstalling Kodi, and installing it on a separate folder and the same thing happens. Album art is displayed fine in Microsoft Groove / Music etc. I have tried deleting the temp cache in the Kodi folder, this deletes all the artwork but then won't repopulate. I have tried deleting the album artwork in the music folder but again this makes no difference.

Anyone got any pointers?

when deleting the thumbnail cache, you want to also delete the textures.db then re-scan

Are all song files tagged with different album names? Album Artist?

Sometimes stray folder.jpg or nfo files in the folder or parent folders cause problems.

I assume you have already checked for a folder.jpg as the other posters have suggested

Turn on HIDDEN SYSTEM FILES. There are annoying hidden image files in that folder from Windows Media Player that are doing this.

So now do this:

Open Windows Explorer.
Press <ALT> for the menus
Select TOOLS and then FOLDER OPTIONS
Look on the VIEW... tab
Put a tick next to SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
REMOVE the tick next to HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES (RECOMMENDED)
Hi OK

When unticking that second one it will throw a silly warning box at you. Just say OK to that and dismiss it.

Now go look in your music folder and you will see that Windows Media Player uses hidden files to give an image to the folder. Delete those hidden images and you are sorted.

Once done, re-hide your hidden files by doing the reverse of the ticks above.

Trouble is the next time you fire up Windows Media Player it may well put that image back. So it is worth slowly migrating to the standard \Artist\Album\ layout most media players expect.
