24 bit only. That's not a problem as kodi can easily output 24 bit. The cubox for example also has this 24 bit output mode. Sadly missing is a 16 bit format, that kodi uses for sending passthrough. From the enumeration 7.1 multichannel should work - but needs testing of course. Also 192 khz is supported. So quite nice. PT sucks anyways for syncing :-)

I am noticing high CPU usage, all 4 cores, in the 70's to 90's. Video playback is stable however.

So - can it do HD Audio under windows? It at least enumerates a 16 bit format, but that could also be emulated. Does AC3 / DTS work?

Problems ... audio starts to stutter and overall Kodi behavior gets wacky (for lack of better description). Also, I get no audio w/HD audio formats.

Okay - then the 16bit is most likely only an emulation. Yeah it's okay for now. We can decode every format (besides Atmos extensions) to PCM - it's pretty fine for such cheap machines.

Kernel 4.5 was released on 13 March 2016 that is more than one month ago.
I want to buy a Z8300 chip hardware and track all the threads about HDMI audio.
The main question is how do You achieve that :-), nobody reports that HDMI audio works on Z8300 work with kernel 4.5 and like I write before it is more than month since this kernel was released.

Becuase i use special patch which i got from Intel developers

I have z3735f tablet with hdmi output, and try install to this version, but cannot succes. I think this device accept only 32 bit uefi image to boot.
Is any trick to make uefi32bit boot?

Sure, it's fine, just so long as you don't need HD audio bitstreaming and ATMOS/X.

I just bought this from eBay... has windows 10 home full on it, activaes out of the box... works perfectly with Kodi...

Plays up to HEVC 8bit in hardware... 10 bit in software, no frame drops up to 1080p I haven't tried higher though...

Let me know if you need any info on the Tronsmart. I'm told you can dual boot but it's not setup for it by default.

Forgot to mention in the above tests I had the Tronsmart hooked up to my monitor so it's displaying the films on a 1440p (2560 x 1440) 32" monitor at that resolution rather than a tv or projector natively at 1920.

Also I'm not sure if the decoding process is partial or hybrid with these drivers like it is on some processor (where the processor does some of the pipeline in h/w before handing back to the software). I've read thats a possibility with some 10bit pipelines.

Does anyone know?

Had in the past a Chromebox, so I am expecting similar result from that cherry trail boxes.
If I only downmix to stero on TV speakers and only have 1080p h264 files as well as Live TV 1080i h264, this boxes should do that perfectly, right?

@fritsch: this GPU should be capable to do Intels best deinterlacing in hardware as the chromebox was able to?
