OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Isengard nearly final)
#31
ok tried it with all different steps and some more files and it works. Thanks !

But it is slow. All other videos ( also much bigger files with better quality ) continue immediatly after jumping through the video.
Here i have for 1-2 seconds a break with 100% cpu load.
But also on AFTV with kodi 15.1rc1 it is slow with a break of a half second.

is it simply the wmv implementation, that is a bit slower ?

Yes, no hardware decode support for wmv2 codec.

Switched now to this version ( NOT using now the test firmware for the wrong dvds ) and did some more testing and found something.

I have a fix for this (switch to half rate deinterlace when video playback is not full screen).
The builds in the first post have been updated with this fix, the fix for the stall with software video decode and seeking, plus a minor fix to remove HW mouse pointer when it's disabled in settings.

I've updated the builds with new firmware that includes a dvd hang fix.

sorry for asking again, but just to be sure for testing.

So this fix for "zaphod24" is now also included here ?

Yes.
Well, it should, but I'm not certain it has. Let me look into it.
You can get latest firmware from here if you want to be sure:

your 0815b build does not include the newest firmware. Still dvd hang.
with downloaded firmware it works.

another small bug:

video in background and at home screen or when you slide in the left control bar the control for "track forward" does not work. nothing happens.

all others, track back, rewind, pause/play, stop, fast forward are working.

Have been watching yesterday some hours with 0815c.

software video decode and seeking fix works.
deinterlace fix works.
dvd hang fix works.
A problem i had not posted yet was also fixed, same problem like zaphod24

Many thanks for the fast work !

had one video hang with video in background again, but while i was not in the room. Do not know what happened exactly. Lets see if i it happens again the next days.

And one issue with view mode. will post later test files. don't know if it is a bug or simply unusual video size.

Here the files to the view mode problem/question.

i use a 4:3 CRT TV and nearly all dvds work in view mode zoom correct with full height.
there are many different sizes and i see many different zoom amounts.

But for example these two do not work in full height with zoom:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88849549/pd.VOB
i think here is definitely a problem. the different view modes do not work correctly.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88849549/BR.VOB
this is zooming and doing the other view modes but not to full height. don't know if it is correct so.

if you need more detailled info or logs, please tell me.

As far as I can tell, kodi is behaving as expected.
The video files are poorly encoded. The frames (for the first one) are 720x576 but the actual usable video is 720x376.
There are 100 black pixels encoded at top and bottom of video. See image.
This messes with kodi's ability to scale image to fit screen. Obviously the video should have been encoded as 720x376 without the black pixels included.

I get identical behaviour with kodi on linux in the different zoom modes, and also VLC on linux when playing these files.
