OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Isengard nearly final)
#91
(2015-08-25, 15:36)wchick132 Wrote: As far as x265/HEVC videos is concern, playback is not as smooth as last couple of Milhouse builds. I meant there were minor stuttering (pause 0.5 sec or less) and from time to time noticeable audio out of sync (video catches up sooner or later). However, there were no freeze or pixelation as on Milhouse build before #0819. I forgot to check skip or dropped frames info.

That is expected. Isengard builds include the arm side NEON optimisations, but not the slightly riskier GPU optimisations, so arm cpu will be much higher and performance is not as good.
Best to stick to Milhouse builds if HEVC performance is important to you.

Then will the slightly riskier GPU optimization be included in the OE 6 build?

for me so far pops #815c works fantastic only issue i have as 1 member mentioned I get when first powering on the device I get empty pop up box, i haven't tried 595.4 yet

I also must admit I tried Millhouses jarvis ##819 and my temps where like 6 to 8 deg lower than pops #815c

as mentioned in previous post when first powering on the rasp pi 2 aeon nox from memory or confluence so it would be the home screen since it just booting up from off position and say the gui will check tomorrow again when I venture into the man cave, i left it playing to see if i get kicked off since #816b would do this to me after 4 to 8 hrs random

Isengard 5.945.4

CPU usage very high when horizontal text scroll happen.
To reproduce, create an empty folder, name it with a long character string or/and rename a music/video file with a long string.

Compare CPU usage between no scrolling and a scrolling name with debug or ssh/top

With my RPi1-512 overclocked at 1000 I get:
Low: 15-20%
High:65-75%
When I play HD multichannel music I get drops.

Unfortunately scrolling text is a known performance issue - the simplest solution is to highlight a shorter label that won't cause scrolling.

Perhaps it's possible to stop text from scrolling when a player is active on single-core platforms such as the Pi1 that are more sensitive to GUI updates.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

This could be a good workaround.
I am ready to test if it's implemented.

I installed Isengrad 5.95.4 from scratch. No add-on. Everything was working, then I powered down properly for a while.

Then I wanted to start again. RPi started, led flash but screen stayed black and there was no skin sound.
I can ssh, so I shut it down by ssh and drew power cable et plugged it to start. Same issue.

I'd like to post the debug log but it is not activated.
Is it possible and how to activate it by ssh?

What would you Iike me to do to debug?

Edit: I did a reboot and RPi restarted with video but no audio!!??...

Edit2: I found out what happen: RPi is connected to AVR (see my signature). When I start Kodi with AVR in sleep mode even if Kodi switch ON AVR through CEC, there is no sound. When I start Kodi with AVR ON, everything is OK.
How to fix that?
