Hi everyone
I'm going to try take a shot at this again...
Is there a better way of getting to my movie library faster than selecting Videos - Files - and then my Movies folder?
I'd like to select Videos from the main screen and then I'd like to be seeing my Action, Comedy, Horror etc folders immediately. I have already marked my Movies folder as a favorite and under the skin setting selected the Default select action under Videos to go straight to my Movies folder, but it still asks me to first select Files and then Movies and then only I see my Genre folders.
Can someone please help me with this?
Thank you

Thank you, but this does not sort out my issue. It still takes me to a screen where I still need to select Files and then Movies and then only can I see my Genre folders. It's very cluttered.

Let me try it like this: This is what I want in Kodi (Please use your imagination)...
When I switch on my current media player I see these Icons/Shortcuts: Videos, Files & Youtube. When I select Videos icon it takes me directly to my Genre folders I created on my hard drive - Action, Comedy, Horror etc.
Then when I select one of the genre folders (Horror in this case) I am taken to my Horror collection. The 1st 2 icons are also folders (Movie sets - Nightmare on Elm Street & SAW). In this case I selected the SAW folder and in this folder are all my SAW movies.
Can Kodi be this simple or not?

You are using file mode which is a file explorer. Basically same a explorer on MS Windows OS.
The KODI library needs to be populated then you can, via tags and/or smart playlists take a direct path to genre playlist or tagged content; i.e. Action, Comedy, Horror etc.
Sets are already a feature in KODI, which requires content scanned to the KODI library.

I finally solved this irritating issue by installing the Arctic Zephyr skin!
I now ad my Movies and TV Series folders using Add Video Source and then add them to Favourites. Then under the Skin Settings I change my menu shortcuts to the Favourite items I selected and BAM!! - I now click on Movies on my main screen and it takes me directly to my own manually created genre folders! Problem solved!

Just curious, is there a reason why you don't scan your movies into library and use library mode?

To be honest... My reason is... I do not know how to or where to do it. The links k4sh1n gave me does not make sense and does not explain to me how to do it. (No offence k4sh1n). Would you be so kind as to take me through it step by step? Excuse my noobness, but Kodi is still very new to me...

It can be daunting to a new user, but if you go through and read those pages SLOWLY it does explain everything. I'll give you a hand, send me a private message

Ok, let me try and work through those wikis again. I actually do like the Arctic skin's layout. So much that it finally convinced me to replace my WD TV Live player with a Kodi setup. I have already ordered all my goodies for my HTPC machine... Just waiting for the MOBO still. Quite excited to start building!

P.S. Once you have set Movies as a source and TV as a source you can then go to the settings to toggle which 'shortcuts' are visible on the home screen. "Videos" is set as visible as the default along with Music, Weather, etc. Once you have TV and Movies as a source, then you can toggle off Videos and toggle on TV and Movies to be displayed on the home screen.
Edit: Using the Confluence skin go to Appearance>Skin>Skin Settings>Home Window>Hide main menu buttons
