Clarification needed regarding Path Substitution in Kodi for Thumbnails
#1
Question
Hi Guys,

This question is primarily aimed at Kodi devs, but if someone with knowledge can help please do so Smile I just bought a 128GB USB flash drive to use on my Fire TV box as the thumbnails folder is consuming around 3GB of the internal storage of my Fire TV and am running very low on space.

I decided to use Kodi's Path Substitution feature to substitute the path for the thumbnails to a clone created on the USB drive. Having looked at the Wiki page for Path Substitution, I'm slightly confused. Is it safe and reliable to use this feature ONLY on my Fire TV?

I get that the Wiki page says that sharing the Thumbnails file between devices is dangerous as it can lead to corruption and mess of the thumbnails database, but I am safe to use it only for my device purposes right?

Woud appreciate a clarification on this.

Thanks! Wink

Yes, it's safe in your example.

Thanks Ned Scott, much appreciated. Seems to be running problem-free so far. Smile
