v15 REPOSITORY HELP!
#1
Hello,

I am trying to create my own repository for add-ons; however, I am fairly inexperienced in repositories and networking. I found the wiki page giving instructions on how to build one, but that was not descriptive enough for me.

I am having trouble with the first step: building an HTTP Server. I have already attempted to build a simple, local HTTP server utilizing python, but I can't see how this would work. I understand that in order to add a repository to your personal Kodi you go to System > File Manager > add source > then type in the HTTP URL. How do I make my own HTTP URL for my repository?

Also, Looking through, I am confused by some of the other steps. Do you know if there are any set of instructions that are more descriptive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Guys,

Im trying to build a repository and I can't seem to get it right! I read through the thread: [http://forums.addons.center/thread/40-tu...epository/] but I am still having trouble.

1. I downloaded the master zip

2. Edited the config file in _tools (Changed the URL to https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HengLo...path=repo/) My user name is HengLoose12 and Repository name is MyTV

3. moved the addon files into the root file

4. double clicked generate_repo.py

5. Went on Kodi, clicked add source, inputted my URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HengLo...path=repo/ & tried https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HengLoose12/MyTV/

Neither of the two URL's worked. What am I doing wrong? This is suppose to be easy but I've spent NUMEROUS hours trying to figure this out.

Please, ANY HELP would be GREATLY appreciated. I've honestly spent HOURS and HOURS on trying to figure this out.

Thanks,

Uhhhh pointing to the wrong URL? https://github.com//HengLoose12/MyTv

Just a note, your thread might get binned because of the mention of the shifty site in your post.

Helta,

Thanks for replying and thanks for the heads up!

I tried doing that too, it was able to connect but there were no files in the URL when I did 'download from zip file' .

Does that mean I didn't properly upload the addon file? How do you even get the addon files?

Hey, I'm new to this so I'm not sure how to properly reply. But I sent another reply, just read above this comment! I just want to make sure I get you a notification.

I've never even tried to build a repo but on my 5 seconds of googling,

I'm pretty sure your addon.xml is pointing to the wrong location. Should be https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HengLo...addons.xml

So are you saying that is what I should type as the URL source when I add a source in Kodi? Or that is how I should edit the 'configure' file in the _tools files? Or both?

You tube is my best friend, I just started Kodi about a moth ago so far, I installed it to two Desktop and Laptop by watching you tube. I get movie addons with no problem, found out that some addons don't work on certain Kodi version (I'm using the Isengard).

I have tried youtube, however none seem to show how to create repositories. Downloading existing repositories and addons are fine. But making my own is where I amusing trouble.

Hey Helta,

My apologies for not getting back to you, I never knew you pm'd me! I'm new to this. Thanks for taking your time and sending me a message.

After the MANY attempts I've tried before reading your message, I am convinced that I must have done what you said.

Okay, so when I upload the addons to the root folder, is it okay to just download an existing repository that contains addons and throw it into my root folder? Or do I have to manually look for addons on the internet, download it directly and put each one in my root folder?

Also, what do you mean by upload the _repo folder rather than just the contents, doesn't that do the same thing? Do you mean upload the whole root folder that contains _tools, README, etc.?

I don't know if this is do to my errors in uploading the folders, but Kodi never seems to connect with raw.githubcontentuser.com. Or will that be fixed when I upload and configure things right?

Also, for some reason I can't PM you back.
