Audio drops if Enable Passthru is enabled
#46
Turn on debug logging, restart kodi, only play the sample I posted -> post the Debug Log <- check this, just use a pastebin near you, no need to post it into the forum.

Quote:32-bit API level 17 (API level 17)

API level v17 has no support for passthrough _at_ all. Support was added with api level 21, see: http://developer.android.com/reference/a...CODING_AC3
Looked in the wrong line, you use v22, let's see. I will prepare something for you.

So, there is no official way that AC3 or DTS should work by design on this box. We might be able to fake the output via PCM and 100% volume, but that's pure luck if it works.

http://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/Android-ARM/7906/ <- here wait until this is on the mirros. This removes all the hacks we used for passthrough and only provide what the OS wants us to have.

This means:
Before Android v22: PCM forced passthrough, not supported by OS
Since Android v22: AC3 via the OS
Since Android v23: AC3, DTS, DTS-HD

On AMLogic: Everything

Wait a bit until the mirror has it.

After activating passtrough no sound AND no video......

Good - now we know, that your firmware is not even able to do the passthrough the way android v22 wants to have it natively. If you can, just return the device ... its firmware is broken.

What you can test, to get a more clear logfile: Disable MediaCodec and MediaCodec (Surface) and play the file again.

mxplayer and the native android player have no problem at all with multichannel audio......
And i tryed different firmwares (RK3368)
Kinda weird to say that my firmware is broken when only Kodi have issues with the audio....

I'll disable the codecs and try once more....

Cause they care for broken rockchip firmware and we don't.

Ah - rockchip - that makes it clear, sad :-( I did not see this in the logfile and thought: hey let's be 100% os conform and see what works, sad. Yeah, sorry ...

Will look in your new logfile again and see if there is something "not in spec" that we might do wrong, but I am quite sure that's not the case.

@fritsch Don't even bother. RK doesn't even allow the PCM passthrough way, the last time I checked, let alone RAW.

Oki, should have known before ... sorry fritsch for wasting your time :-(
