Am I at the latest stable release?
#1
Hi, I have just run through the usual commands to upgrade Kodibuntu to the latest stable release.

If I try again, it says "kodi is already the newest version"

However, if I connect using the Kodi remote, that shows "v14.0 Stable". this is also what I see on the splash screen?

Yet if I interrogate at command line:

Code:
jerry@1CC-HTPC:~$ sudo apt-cache policy xbmc
xbmc:
  Installed: 2:15.1~git20150816.1137-final-0trusty
  Candidate: 2:15.1~git20150816.1137-final-0trusty
  Version table:
*** 2:15.1~git20150816.1137-final-0trusty 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2:13.2~git20140817.2155-final-0trusty 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
     2:12.3+dfsg1-3ubuntu1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages

Which means it is at 15.1 right - so a little confused. Confused

BTW, I also tried the dist-upgrade, in case that helped - no change

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks

Jerry

From the output I would say you are at 15.1 which means, you have the latest and greatest stable Wink.

It might be, that for upgrading from Kodibuntu Helix to Isengard, the splashscreen won't change. The last two point you could look at is:

Code:
sudo apt-cache policy kodi

which should give you a similar output.

and check the system info at system settings. The version should be mentioned there, too.

Good point, I hadn't noticed I was still querying xbmc instead of kodi Blush

Anyway, it seems to be the same, but still confused as to why the splashscreen & remote say 14.0??

Code:
jerry@1CC-HTPC:~$ sudo apt-cache policy kodi
kodi:
  Installed: 2:15.1~git20150816.1137-final-0trusty
  Candidate: 2:15.1~git20150816.1137-final-0trusty
  Version table:
*** 2:15.1~git20150816.1137-final-0trusty 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Thanks

It is the official Kodi remote for iOS:

Also, the loading splashscreen shows 14.0 when loading at the start Confused

A wild guess...I think it's the name for the client and not a real version check. So the host PC (the HTPC) may be named like this and this won't change by upgrading versions.

Maybe you could check via:

Code:
uname -n

which will output the network node hostname

Hi, David

No it always showed the correct build before.

Also, the hostname - as can be seen in the command prompt is 1CC-HTPC:

Code:
jerry@1CC-HTPC:~$ uname -n
1CC-HTPC

Post a Debug Log no need for speculating ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks Fritsch,

I ran the debugger & rebooted the machine to get the startup logs.

Strange thing is, when it booted this time, the splash screen had updated to isengard 15.1 & also the remote now shows 15.1 stable.

Not sure why it took the unit several reboots to show the correct release, but hey-ho at least it is right now.

Here are the logs anyway, in case there is anything else i should be aware of

Your debug kodi.log: http://xbmclogs.com/prxaqlo1h Your debug kodi.old.log: http://xbmclogs.com/psxy3llzg

Thanks

Use a real pastebin site, xbmclogs always has some issue or another in this case both of those goto 502 bad gateway at time of writing this.
