WeTek Core (24p HD Netflix / HD Audio / Lollipop / OpenELEC / 4K / HEVC)
(2015-12-10, 18:12)droidelec Wrote: As WeTek prefer all transparent and opened, soon we will push all patches regarding Core to official OpenELEC Repository.

Btw. regarding Play/Core, we are working on new Experimental Video decoder which will be used under Linux/OpenELEC. There are already available experimental/testing builds for Play with new Video decoder at http://wetekforums.com/vb5/forum/wetek-p...r-openelec

Once when it is done we will release it, so we guess all AMLogic community will have benefit of it Wink
Don't you just love Open Source Software, we can feel the love from here. What do they put in the Water Fountain over at team WeTek HQ, please bottle it and send it out with the Core deliveries !

@ droidelec, can I direct your attention to this issue No.2 that only Codesnake or possibly Koying will know how to fix, this is affecting all S8XX OpenELEC AMlogic platforms and a lot of users:

I've tried the fire tv, the roku and the nexus player. The nexus player was the best but it's severely limited by the android tv platform and almost no apps. All three of those units will not play locally stored movie files without some sort of slight judder or skip. Yes I'd agree that the wetek core seems ideal for you. But maybe you should wait to see some reviews posted from people who've actually used it. My unit is arriving tomorrow.

What do you mean "slight judder or skip"? I thought at least the Roku has an extra channel for local files and you can run Plex on it.

I mean all those players can't playback at 23.976 so there's always a little skip or judder of some sort. The wetek won't, or shouldn't, have that problem.

I fail to see how express delivery could have got it here faster. I have just got mine (next day) and I chose the free 3-7 day delivery!

Even worse, I didn't even get it today as tnt couldn't find my address. So I paid tnt 20 euros for worse than nothing apparently.

But where do you get 23.976 fps content? Do you mean 24p? I thought that's 24 and not 23.976 Blush

Just about anything that's supposedly 24 is actually 23.976. , If you press 'details' in any file on mx player or on kodi it will almost certainly say it's 23.976.

Lets list the troubles this Android box has showned:

- Air Mouse doesn't work most times, it took me 15 minutes to accept the ToS of Play Store, and I was only able to do it by using another wireless keyboard
- some H265 files freeze the Wetek when I try to play them using Kodi
- all videos have audio unsynced 0.4 seconds with the video
- sometimes the box freezes when i change something in the system>Audio Exit

Can I solve this without the hassle of returning this unit?

Hello HCarvalho

- Air mouse works good, are you sure you have used charged batteries?
- About h265 files, if they are not playing it is because they are 10 bit encoded, s8xx support only 8 bit hevc
- I have never experienced any desync but if it is like that (maybe something conflicts with your a/v chain) you can just set that offset and make it permanent by choosing "apply these settings for all files"
- Never happened neither to me neither to other people that used and are using in these days the device. I'd try a factory reset just in case.

Regarding Kodi, if you haven't already tried. Try the new beta, using it on my android tablets and aftv gen 1, I've found it to be very stable and generally an improvement over the one in the playstore.

How can i see if the video is 10 bit or 8 bit?

That video willl and should play good, it's a supported one and the same as one of the dozens we have tried.
I'd do a factory reset from recovery and start from scratch, specially what you are experiencing in the audio menu is not correct.
Reply
That video has variable frame rate which is known to cause issues with Amlogic decoder (and possibly others).

Oh I missed that part, just took a look at the level profile, thanks for the clarification
