It took a while but I found a solution. You can force Kodi back into Full Screen mode right after invoking the preview by using the following command:
http://192.168.1.9:8080/jsonrpc?request={"jsonrpc": "2.0", "method": "GUI.SetFullscreen", "params": { "fullscreen": "toggle" }, "id": "1"}
So if you are watching a movie while the preview is called, the addon context menu is removed.
