I run Kodi 15.1 at Ubuntu 15.04 and it works OK except that some channels - like Animal Planet and History Channel - shows the subtitles in the left-middle of the screen instead of below the screen ...

This has happened on HD channels. It has been fixed already. For sure in Jarvis but AFAIK it was also backported to v15. So updrade to latest.

This particular bug will be fixed when 15.2 is released too, no need to wait for Jarvis.
