Best box for my setup
#1
Hi,
I'm looking for a media box to use for movies and music with my devices, I've looked at reviews and so on for the last two days but I'm still unsure. My setup now consists in a Sony Bravia projector and two speakers powered by a MF A3 amp. What I want is to be able to stream HD movies from a NAS, which I still have to buy, and that would be done with Kodi and OpenElec, I think. As for music, since my setup only has a projector and no tv, I want to be able to manage everything from a tablet or phone (via the remote app). Another problem is that many boxes only have an optical audio output and I can't connect them directly to the amp. I'm not interested in 3D and I don't need the TV part. My budget is a bit tight, around 150€ for the media box and accessories. Is there something like that? Thanks Smile

This is pretty cost effective running Ubuntu Kodi or OpenELEC.

or this in conjunction with a Headphone to dual RCA cable:

The RPi2 also has a built in Headphone Jack and is another option.

I really like the ODroid C1+ and will probably go with that, but I still have some questions.
I seem to understand that RuneAudio is an OS. Is there an app or something similar that can be installed on Ubuntu Kodi or OpenELEC?
Or do I have to install them in dual boot? Is it possible to have both Kodi and the dedicated music player on the same OS?
Thank you very much for the advice
