Temp Recordings delete
#1
I have a slight issue with the temp recordings behavior in wmc. I set max run time of a live stream to 1 hour and delete temp files in serverwmc but after the hour is up it makes a new file and doesn't delete the old one. If I fall asleep or leave it on for any reason it creates 1 hour files until I run out of space and of course cancelling my recordings if I don't catch it in time. Ideally I'd love it if it could behave like a regular stb and have a file growing on one side and shrinking on the back side so i have the last hour of a channel if available. If that's not possible is there a way to at least limit the number of temp stream files wmc creates?

it isnt possible to do a rolling file since it is basically just a WMC recording file. But it does sound strange that if you've set max run time to an hour, it makes a new file after that hour and doesnt delete the old one. can you please post a ServerWMC log to pastebin?

Wow you guys respond fast awesome! That's too bad but not a big deal. Wonder how stbs and tivos handle it so well. I'm doing another test run right now but here is my log when I tried this afternoon. This time however it cut off after a little over an hour but still says it failed to delete the ts file at 2015/10/12 15:05:51.845. Is this just a simple permissions issue? Should I be running serverwmc as the administator?

I think this happens if kodi is still playing the stream, and since kodi still has the file open we can't delete it. We shutdown the stream generation, but we have no way of telling kodi to stop playing it and if kodi is reading a fair ways behind the end of the ts file, it might not realize the stream has stopped for a while.

Ok sorry I'm really new to this checked the old log and it seems I was being fooled by another error. I left tv on in Kodi Sunday and was getting "error closing stream client is not reading" the whole time therefore creating a new stream file every time it failed to close the stream. I only have 30gbs dedicated to my pvr right now so it filled up with one hour recordings pretty quickly cancelling my scheduled ones. This behavior confused me on what the "max run time of a live stream" option actually did but it's functioning properly now. Thanks.
