I'd like to eventually, use XBMC as the UI for my carputer project. However, the one thing that's missing is built-in support for an FM card. I was thinking of using my old Happauge card or some other type of FM card. If anyone would like to take up this cause (either built-in or as a plug-in), I will be more than happy to help test it out.
Thanks.

surely there must be daemon that can provide the fm channels in a common format (say, shoutcast). there is absolutely no reason for having support for this inside xbmc

Sure, it would be great to be able to use what's already there. No reason in trying to reinvent the wheel. The questions is "how"? Hence my posting here to see what can and can't be done.
Thanks.

All of the iHeart Radio stations are available for streaming via XBMC.
This is essentially every FM Station in the US.
A quick search on youtube for XBMC iHeart brings up a short tutorial on how to do it.

Perhaps it's possible with a TV-Card which support FM Radio via the PVR Plugin (never try this, but perhaps it work)
