Stuttering video when using subtitles
#1
I've posted about this previously with XBMC/Kodi but never really been able to get any guidance Sad

For some films I get issues with video stuttering when subtitles are displayed, or for that matter OSD like the volue control. IT seems to only affect certain encodes, as I have got hold of a different copy of a movie and it's been fine.

I'd be really happy to do diagnosis I just don't know where to start, I'm on Openelec v5.0.8 KOdi 14,2

I've set "adjust display refresh to match video" to on, but it still happens.

I'd really appreciate any tips Smile

What I did notice is that even before putting on subtitles the video was stuttering, so it seems to be related to any OSD.... I noted the frame rate was dropping really low when the stuttering happened, which is probably not surprising....

You run an outdated kodi version, which has no support anymore. Second VDPAU is not used on your hw, post vdpauinfo | pastebinit And third this file is 29.97i which is most likely too much for your hardware. Makesure upscaling is Bilinear.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thank mate, my video card is a Radeon HD6670 which hasn't ever suffered before and was fairly well specced at the time, possibly CPU on the main PC you think? (Although Openelec never reports the CPU as being much more than 20% occupied).

My Open Elec version is 5.0.8 which is only the last release, I'll try 6.0.0 though in case it helps.

I wasn't sure what you meant by "post vdpauinfo | pastebinit" ?
