v15 Movie Scan Fails (SMB Location)
#1
So,

This problem appears to be similar to:
- http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=193814 (Gotham scan issues with SMB)
- http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=240788 (more recent)
- I assume this fix doesn't apply since it appears to have been merged prior to 15.2: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1968019

I am working on a fresh install of Kodi with a RavPower RP-WD03 filehub device. It allows me to plug in external hard drives or SD cards and have it broadcast its own signal with the data. I am planning to use it in my car for the kids.

  1. When I scan TV shows from the filehub it works fine (log: http://pastebin.com/usADCqDA)
  2. When I scan movies off the filehub (USB HDD) it fails; no warnings or anything, Kodi just crashes. (log: http://pastebin.com/tkgHJKdk)

As part of my attempts to debug I did the following:
  • Loaded movies from a windows 10 SMB share (my main Kodi server but not the mySQL database). The files are the same ones that I used on the SD card below. This worked for some reason. (log: http://pastebin.com/3ULi4UEr)
  • Loaded all the movies from a windows 10 SMB share. The log was too big to post but it succeeded.
  • Use an SD card and put movies in the root of the card (wondering if the file names were too long or something). This failed. (log: http://pastebin.com/9xWTgzuk)
  • Log from DDMS while the SD card was being scanned (logcat). (log: http://pastebin.com/jHRCbgTE)

The files on the SD card are:
- Act of Valor (2012) with a .actors folder, Act of Valor.mp4, .nfo, .tbn, folder.jpg and Act of Valor-fanart.jpg
- Battle Los Angeles (2011) with the same types of files as above.

Hoping for a resolution to this (seemingly) odd yet very annoying problem.

Other things of note:
Device: Nexus 7 (2013)
Android: Android v 6.0 (Marshmallow)
Kodi: 15.2 downloaded from the Play Store today
Skin: Re-touched

Please check if you have *.dmp files in /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp and post a link to the latest.Thx

Pulled the most recent. http://www.oztheory.com/6a8eaed1-9ee7-b3...b1a563.zip

I had it "re-crash" this morning and it didn't create a new dmp file so the one above is the newest from yesterday.

EDIT: I reloaded Kodi after the crash and it created a new dmp. Here: http://www.oztheory.com/5ca9ee69-429f-b8...3a467b.zip

I've done more experimenting today.

First thing I did was take all the movies and put them in a single directory along with their fanart, poster, and nfo. Like such:
Code:
11/14/2015  12:38 PM           375,069 101 Dalmatians (1961)-fanart.jpg
11/14/2015  12:38 PM           137,569 101 Dalmatians (1961)-poster.jpg
11/13/2015  09:49 PM       935,162,287 101 Dalmatians (1961).m4v
11/14/2015  12:42 PM            15,184 101 Dalmatians (1961).nfo
11/14/2015  12:38 PM           283,406 A Bug's Life (1998)-fanart.jpg
11/14/2015  12:38 PM            89,788 A Bug's Life (1998)-poster.jpg
11/13/2015  10:43 PM     1,594,699,779 A Bug's Life (1998).mp4
11/14/2015  12:42 PM            19,763 A Bug's Life (1998).nfo
11/14/2015  12:38 PM           341,930 Aladdin (1992)-fanart.jpg
11/14/2015  12:38 PM            83,608 Aladdin (1992)-poster.jpg
11/13/2015  11:41 PM     1,301,481,025 Aladdin (1992).mp4
11/14/2015  12:43 PM            13,615 Aladdin (1992).nfo
I then loaded it up and had it scan without recursive folders using just the local nfo and it works perfectly.

I think took all those moves and moved each into their own folder with the same files PLUS the .actors folder. For the scan I had it scan recursively and told it movies are in separate folders that match the title. It crashed.

I then tried the same as above except without the recursive scan "checked". It crashed.

Finally, I went in and removed all of the .actors folders (these were created by Media Companion). With the boxes checked for scan recursively and movies are in their own folder it once again crashed. With scan recursively not check but the other one checked it crashed. With the folders and neither scan recursively or in their own folder checked it still crashed.

Hoping this additional diagnostic information helps. If you want logs let me know but from first glance they appeared exactly like the ones already posted.

I'll try to reproduce.
Could you PM me a zip of just the .nfo you are using, please.

I don't appear to have permissions to send PMs yet thus I'll just leave these links here:
- Just the nfo files: http://www.oztheory.com/nfo-only.zip (100kb)
- The nfo, fanart, and poster plus the folder structure (obviously not movies): http://www.oztheory.com/nfo-folder-structure.zip (10.6mb)

Has there been any progress on this issue? Facing the same problem and can't find any useful logs in Android either.
