Fry's Electronics is selling (thru 11/28) the WD My Passport Ultra Premium 1TB for $38.00 USD. That's the good news. The bad news is that when I went down to my own local Fry's, of course, all the ones they had on the shelves yesterday were long gone. That's normally not a problem unless the Fry's newspaper ad for the item specifically says (in fine print) at the bottom "No Rain Checks". On this item, the newsprint ad didn't say that, but the guy who was running the components desk at the time I went there told me there were not giving rain checks on that item, and that in fact the newsprint ad had said somplace "No Rain Checks". Fortunately, Fry's posts their own newsprint ads on a cork board near the entrance, so I went and looked at that and sure enough, it did not say "No Rain Checks". Within about 1 minute I had found a helpful manager near the cork board. I pointed him at the ad and told him I came down for this item and that the components guy refused to give me a rain check. He walked with me back over to the components desk and told the guy to give me a rain check. So I did end up getting one, and I'll go back a week or two and then be able to get one of these things at the good price. (Moral of the story: Persistance pays.)

Oops! I just clicked the link on that one again, and now the good price from about 5 hours ago isn't showing anymore. :-( That's pretty weird. Normally, when Newegg says that some deal is "Good thru such-and-such a date" that means until midnight on that date, Pacific time. Oh well.
