OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 17.0)
Does usb boot (without sd card) on rpi 3 need a new build ?
(2016-02-29, 20:51)Jönke Wrote: Does usb boot (without sd card) on rpi 3 need a new build ?

Yes - it will need new firmware files. I suspect there will be a blog post by Gordon at some point describing how the new boot schemes work.
Kodi crashes on start of playback of x265 file: video-FAIL.mkv
http://xbmclogs.com/pq5ceglbg
http://xbmclogs.com/pyd2wxaaz (with debug)

MediaInfo:
http://xbmclogs.com/pzy4uftsf

Build used:
OpenELEC-RPi2.arm-7.0-Milhouse-20160226213725-#0226-g610e9bf

With OpenELEC 6.0.2 playback works, but is stuttering.

That is 10-bit h.265 which is not currently supported. Shouldn't crash, but won't play well.

Thanks, it's PR9187 - it's not clear whether this is intentional (requiring changes to the OE Settings addon for Kodi 17) or a bug, so I've asked for clarification on github.

Hi Milhouse.

Yesterday I was tested 228 build for BD3D. There are results:
1. Frame packing don't start while disabling vertical sync in setup.
2. Frame packing work good after 1.
3. Exit from 3D to 2D mode automatically after stop playing (or manual selection 2D during playback) don't work good.
It needs to manually switch the projector to 2D. Windows itself switches projector correctly from 3D frame packing to 2D mode.

My configuration: RPi2 OpenElec with 228 update patch, Benq w1070 projector.

Do you know if the Pi 3B supports Dolby Atmos (HDMI Bitstream for 7.1 HD Audio)?

No. The GPU is unchanged (apart from clock frequency) and that determines that audio passthrough capability.

So this means that the Pi 3 doesn't support HD Audio passthrough?

no it doesn't. The pi3 is the same as the pi2 just with faster clock rates, a 64bit cpu and built in wifi/bluetooth. The GPU (video core IV) is the same as all the rest of the Pi's. It will decode HDAudio to lossless PCM (same as PS4); PCM is a perfect bit match to pass through HD. You just won't see the HD Audio light turn on in your receiver.

And - to be fair - you won't get Dolby Atmos or DTS:x content played in that format. You will also not be able to play the handful of 5.1/7.1 192kHz releases losslessly as the Pi tops out at 4.0 at 192kHz. Within those constraints - which or many of us are non-issues - it's a great solution.
(2016-01-20, 16:54)Milhouse Wrote: * No, there's no other hoops to jump through

* According to the device tree README, adding "dtoverlay=rpi-backlight" to config.txt should enable backlight driver support.

Thanks for pointing that out (rtfm error ;-) ), but still no dice, even with a build from last week:
Code:
OpenELEC:~ # uname -a
Linux OpenELEC 4.4.2 #1 SMP Wed Feb 24 21:11:56 GMT 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux

Still no /sys/class/backlight I'm afraid. I've even tried to comment out the iqaudio-dacplus dtoverlay in case there was some conflict between them, but that didn't help either. What am I missing?

It shouldn't be a problem that I originally flashed the sd-card with the IQAudio provided http://iqaudio.com/downloads/5_OpenELEC-...Qaudio.zip and have been upgrading it to Milhouse's builds subsequently, should it?
Hi Milhouse,

"DVD playback remains temporarily disabled" also in this build?
...i ask, because there is not an indication of the capacity - or something wrong? [nothing is described]

wave in one folder are playing complete now.

MTV.de addon do not work:
If i choose next song (with skip),
video will paused and skip automatically to next / the next but one (3-4 times)
and somewhere along the way a video play without audio.
Also noticed some buffering...

Thank you for your prompt reply ;-)

Crap, yes - thanks for the reminder doldi. Release note updated.

by your leave, Milhouse

why is that disabled? :-)
Hei
I installed the Pi2 build 29Feb on the new raspberry Pi3. I do not see the openelec menu (the one to set the network connections) under system.

Do you please know how to solve this one?
