OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 17.0)
Good morning,

Equipment used:
- RPi3 Model B V1.2 with copper heat sinks
- Toshiba 32GB microSDHC UHS-I
- Logitech K400
- Wired Ethernet Connection to FritzBox!7490 (100/40Mbit)
- 2A Samsung USB Power Supply
- Samsung T240 1920x1200@60Hz via HDMI

Procedure:
# Wipe SD card with SDFormatter
# Install OpenELEC-RPi2.arm-6.95.1.img using Win32DiskImager
# Boot and finish wizard
# SMB: Copy advancedsettings.xml and 'Milhouse.tar'
# Reboot & Capture Log/Stopwatch

#0326 - Log
From Kodi-Splash-Screen to GUI: ~ 6 Min 28 Seconds
Followed by a bunch of PVR addon errors

#0322 - Log
From Kodi-Splash-Screen to GUI: ~12 Seconds

#0326 - Log ==> Deleted Addons20.db prior to #0326 update
From Kodi-Splash-Screen to GUI: ~8 Seconds

Hope there is something in the logs that helps.

Edit:
Because it was suggested here:

#6.95.1.img -> #0219 Log
From Kodi-Splash-Screen to GUI: ~10 Seconds

#0219 -> #0326 - Log
From Kodi-Splash-Screen to GUI: ~22 Seconds

This way, I was able to get amazon prime working(Input Stream + Sandman79 Addon).
#0326 still a no go for me. Back to trustworthy #0319.
#326 taking forever to get through splash screen, same as #325.

Why a splashscreen then, can we get rid of it?
(2016-03-27, 13:59)eenjec Wrote: #326 taking forever to get through splash screen, same as #325.

What worked for me is:

1) Re-install build #322
2) Search for PVR addons
3) Disable them all
4) Upgrade to #323 or higher

Everything is back to normal load times

add this to Advancedsettings.xml (wiki)
<splash>fale</splash>

but the problem is with all of the pvr addons being enabled.

If however you don't have a recent Addons21.db I'd suggest the following slightly more involved solution:
1) Revert to #0219 (after this build, creating a new Addons2*.db takes a very long time)
2) Build #0219 will create Addons21.db with all "system" (PVR etc.) addons disabled, while enabling your own third-party addons
3) Upgrade to #0324+, which will upgrade Addons21.db to Addons22.db
4) Enable the "Input Stream" add-on if you want to use Amazon Prime etc. - you'll need to reboot one more time for inputstream.mpd to function correctly

There's an alternative fix to the startup delay in the next build (#0325) but I think it may still require either of the above solutions to get back to a fully working system.

Same here, plus the PVR stuff don't seem to work anyway, can't get tv-time to work either.

From the second Kodi splash screen to the home screen it's a "blink and you'll miss it" on 0319, on anything higher it's second kodi splash screen then wait 5 minutes.

for some reason it won't allow me to disable them (or uninstall them) using 322! the options are greyed out.

You can't uninstall them as they're "system" add-ons, included as part of the image. I've no idea why you can't disable them though.

Go back to #0219 which is the last known good build as far as add-ons is concerned, disable anything that requires disabling, and finally delete Addons22.db before upgrading to the latest build. Note that this is only a workaround until the problems with add-ons is fully resolved.

Not working.

Installed 6.0.3, upgraded to 6.95.1, upgraded to #0319, disabled all PVR clients, deleted Addons22.db, upgraded to #0327 and once again the long Kodi boot that ends in a boot loop after 6-7 minutes. (RP3)
OK I don't know, it's a mess. I'm going to take a break from builds for the next few days until the mess is fixed.

No problem. #0319 is a keeper till this mess will be fixed.

Thank you for wonderful #0319.
An additional piece of information, maybe it helps finding a fix for the mess:

I just updated from #319 to #327 after deleting all Addons*.db files. Update went smoothly. As expected all my addons were then disabled. As soon as I enable my PVR plugin (TVHeadEnd), Kodi restarts and enters a "bootloop".

Other PVR plugins, or video plugins like Youtube and Twitch, don't exhibit this behavior

After stopping Kodi from the console and deleting Addons22.db, starting it works again. Enabling TVHE plugin, it bootloops again.

(The connection error is to be expected; I cleared the PVR config, and my TVHE is running on another PI.)

EDIT: I just tested #326, the crash and bootloop behavior does not occur there! Could the crash in #327 be due to the new PVR API? I just noticed that the TVHE plugin is not in the list of updated plugins for that release.

I also do not experience any issue with long delay during booting with #326.

Two more questions: In the new skin, recorded TV programs that are abbreviated with "..." do not scroll. And, is there a way to disable the new startup animation? It is nice, but I like my devices to boot as quickly as possible. Smile

@Milhouse: THUMBS UP for the great job you're doing!!
Kind regards, Frank

As previously announced, I've stopped building the tvheadend plugin as their latest master has now switched to ffmpeg 3.0 which isn't supported by OpenELEC, but the latest #0324 version of the addon I've provided should be fine.

Ask about it in the Estuary forum, that's where they're collecting feedback/issue.
