I have started trying to use x265 HEVC files when available on my RPi2. Most play well with an occasional studder here and there during a panning scene, but not too bad.
I understand that these are software decoded not hardware through the GPU. Looking at bcmstat.sh shows that the CPUs are not maxed out.
I read things such as (HEVC low bit rate only for the Pi) but do not understand bit rates, so what is a low bit rate?
Using MediaInfo on a few of my files, I can see things like:
Overall bit rate : 628 Kbps
Overall bit rate : 694 Kbps
Overall bit rate : 862 Kbps
How do those compare to high/med/low bit rate, and about what bit rate is the RPi2 good up to in 720p?
