Is libreelec on aml android gives better video and audio experience than android platform ?
generaly speaking YES, because booting straight into Libre-ELEC used less resources then booting android, and then booting into XBMC

The Shield is still a better Kodi SPMC(Jarvis) & Android TV Apps device, pity about its 2017 remote :-(
Not many people seem to like the capacitive touch Volume controls either.

Yeah the 2 cheapest I found :
€63.16 : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Official...c27ae2dedb
and
€66.03 : https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product...2767264804

If you speak chinese, it goes as low as 35€ !!!!

I love this one:

I've crossed out the 3 above so as not to confuse Newbies. Only one of those will give you the proper Android TV (USA Spec) Mi Box. The rest are normal normal Xiaomi gear that will not get you what you want. It is VERY easy to buy the wrong box, as there are so many different varients of them that look exactly the same.

These guys shipping from Spain may be a better idea for some EU buyers if they are going to get stung with import taxes.

Except for 3D if I understand correctly. Plus there seem to be some issues with the New Shield (remote, storage expansion,...).
So it seems there is no perfect solution yet as a box-like integration of Amazon Video would be missing from a NUC (please correct me if I am wrong). This is why it would be so awesome if the X9S was supported by Amazon Video (but that seems at least unlikely). Maybe simply adding a FireTV stick to my receiver for Amazon Video is the best (and low cost) mid-term solution. What do you think?
Does the xiaomi mi box not support amazon video?

Not at this time. I can not even find an Amazon Video apk to sideload that actually works.

No go! It gives me full use of the UI but does not play any videos. Such a tease.
Oh well... seems like Amazon is clamping down on various extracted APK's of their video service.

1) it's far more powerful (3-4x)
2) I got a $20 employee discount (Amazon), and Prime shipping
3) for $110 extra than the Mi Box (delivered), ~$40-50 of that would have been for a controller (which comes with the Shield anyway).

Thanks for the help thus far Smile

Shield arrived today, installed Kodi 16.1 from Google Play. First impressions, a bit meh. Kodi runs at 1080p by default (couldn't change res in settings, though Shield settings show 4K @ 59.something Hz), remote massively laggy (from a distance on 6 feet with line of sight, remote upgraded to v1.03 during install), remote also doesn't have a PLAY/Pause button so you need to press the middle button twice to Pause, once more to PLAY then press Back to remove the context menu at the top (got to be a better way) 720p files still lagging (like on fire stick) which points to an issue with my wifi network (or USB hdd).

I've not spent long with it at all (10mins) but I'm very disappointed off the bat. My next steps are updating to a beta release of Kodi, and reviewing WTF is going on with my wireless. The remote lag is worrying me.
The new Shield has the same hardware as the old one. I really do not think it is 3-4 times faster, it may seem like it is though. About the remote lagging, I noticed the same on my Q10 Pro after installing Nougat firmware. It may be something within Nougat, it used to work pretty flawlessly before, on Lollipop firmware.

Yes it can do 1080p Amazon Video, but you have to implement a Kodi Leia DIY Hack Wink

@phreedumb,
I suggest you update, Shield Firmware to brand new 5.0.1 and it will fix a bunch of issues.
All further Shield support in the existing 2017 Shield thread pls or the nVIDIA forums.
