START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated March 2020)
I have an older Wetek Core box (about 3 years old). Does anyone know if it supports Kodi 17?

Hi - I see this listed in the OP  - [Android] Decodes MVC in full, but renders 3D in half (so resulting quality will be similar to HSBS and HTAB). This uses Koying's MVC hack and works to varying degrees on AMLogic Sxxx boxes like WeTek Core, Minix U1, etc. and nVidia Shield TV.

Can someone please advise how to get this hack working ?

I am interested in getting this working even though it is a less than optimal solution.

I've not gotten 3D ISO's or MVC MKV's to render in 3D mode (half-res or not) under Android OS in S9XX boxes. It works with VidOn (bad idea) or via native movie player, but not Kodi. Sam at OSMC is working on enabling MVC support w/Vero 4K, but not sure if/when we'll see this, and whether it'll be half or full-rez render.

Stretch will be released on Sunday (7th).
3D FP can be tested manually currently, but obviously not suitable for prime time. In short:

    Enable FP:
        echo 3dfp > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/config
        echo 3doff > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/config
    Enable FP support via decoder:
        echo 1 > /sys/module/amvideo/parameters/framepacking_support
Put us in an FP mode for HDMITX
        echo FAKEVIC > /sys/class/display/mode # force reset
        echo 1080fp60hz > /sys/class/display/mode

The problem is this isn't going to work on a lot of devices. When AMLogic added checks for Dolby Vision, they disabled 3D signalling in hdmitx. DV and 3D use the same registers.

I was able to fix this with https://paste.osmc.tv/raw/elevutajev, but who knows if a lot of Android boxes will ever see an update with a fix from AML. This patch also fixes 3D autoswitching (and is why it hasn't been working properly for some time) for other files such as SBS files.

With respect to the Apple Tv 4K: When using Apps like MrMc or Infuse, how is the upscaling quality of 1080p to 2160p material?
Is it comparable to the quality that an Apollo Lake NUC deliveres with Libreelec?

Will it not work with other refresh rates? 1080p60 framepacking 3D is a secondary format and not many displays will support it.

It will. That was just an example.

I’ve found however that there are fewer modes available for 3D FP on some displays. We pick the best refresh rate advertised by the EDID. This of course can be overridden.

Didn't work for me. All I got is a blank screen after the FP mode HDMITX command. Is the patch that you have mentioned included in the October update?

1080p & 720p 24/23.976Hz framepacking 3D are mandatory for all HDMI 1.4a 3D displays.

Needs 2017.12-1 (should come tomorrow).
For now, I've patched Kodi to set up mvc-h264 as the decoder each time (also need to ensure prefeeding routines are called for this content).

And all commercial 3D MVC movie content will be 1080p23.976 (and possibly 24.000) in reality won't it?

There is some HSBS 1080i50 and 1080i59.94 and some HTAB 720p59.94 content (TV broadcasts mainly) which could be re-sized and output as 1080p or 720p FP at 50/59.94Hz I guess - but that is a real edge case?

Not any different with the Debian Stretch image. Will try again tomorrow with the official update.

1080i 50/59.94/60Hz HSBS, 1080p 24/23.976 & 720p 50/59.94/60Hz TAB are also mandatory formats. Some Sony TVs support 1080p 50/59.94/60Hz framepacking 3D mode. Other brands usually do not.

Guys, just saw this pop up on my amazon recommended items list. Can this be a good LE candidate?

Reading the LE S912 thread there seems to be more users complaining about the Beelink GT1 vs anything else:

https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/5848-8...-for-s912/

You really have to do your own DIY reading thru the above thread.

Discontinued means there will be no more LE 8.x Kodi Krypton releases because all LE development has moved on to LE Kodi Leia.
What LE 8.x releases that are out right now are final LE Krypton releases.
