Release fTV Fred Edition - with full working and integrated LiveTV part
#61
Works now! Can you make a toggle under the settings menu for disabling the preloading?

It takes forever on some low hardware android devices and I have to manually edit the home.xml everytime I try a new update of yours.

Thanks for all the great work and fast reply's! Smile

To be honest, I'm running it on an Raspberry PI2 in the bedroom and have no troubles with the preloading. It's nearly as fast as my main HTPC in the living room.

Why do you guys always use lemons to run Kodi, if even a less-but-still-a-lemon device such the Raspberry for $40 is able to handle it? Wink

Uusing a fire tv stick or box, even my nexus player. Yes I have widgets coming from a few addons on the main menu so it takes about 2 mins to load them all and I'm stuck looking at that updating widgets screen.

The skin used to be so fast before the new keyboard and widget group change, this was when hitcher himself was only providing it without live tv mod.

So maybe 3-4 weeks ago it started to get alot slower, this seems to be at the same time as the preloading widgets idea came in, the new keyboard and the widget groups.

But this isn't real complaints, just trying to learn more here as to what brought this slow down and how to tweak a few things for my personal use Smile

That's why it's so slow -> Addons
You let a low hardware device gather all that online content on each start. This is the reason for the load.

I'll think about an option.

i have 4 widgets, pulling from salts, that's all really.

****EDIT**** It was blazing fast one month ago, I do not want us to have to go backwards, and we all appreciate the newer simpler features.
I just want to figure out how it went from loading all the widgets (could be 8-9 at a time) within 30 seconds to now a loading widgets image that takes over 1-2mins, and even if I take out the preloading manually it still goes over 1 min and only pulling 4 widgets/shortcuts up in poster view.

I'm a tinkerer like you guys, so I'm just curious where things changed in speed with the new features brought in. And if there's a way to bring back some fast loading like it used to it would be awesome, if not, we all will still use and enjoy the hell out of this Tongue

I'm already replacing the real preloading with an fake preload to speed this one up and keep the smoothness.
Gimme a few minutes Wink

Edit:
Changed my mind. Will keep it because I hate those Fixedlist focusing issue on startup, if the lists aren't loaded completely.
But I have added the option to disable the preload in the settings.

YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME!

Thanks for taking my input, I'm sure I'm not the only one that would manually take out the preloading, it works great on a pc with decent specs but not on the lower end android devices I've tried.

But now, this is so much better, it does exactly what it should do when I open Kodi, goes right to my main menu and about 10 secs later I have my widgets populating....and seems faster? IDK, could be me being excited Smile

Keep up the great work!

No prob.

@all:
It's now possible to move the widgets from one row to another in the widget setup dialog. I also increased the custom widget groups to 12.

@sualfred - Is it possible to make the channel OSD a wrap style menu, so it jumps to the top when you're at the bottom?

I really liked that in my own Live TV MOD.

Yeah, it's possible. But I hate wraplists ^^
It simply looks terrible if you only have list with 2,3 or 4 items.

Sure, but I wouldn't think many people only have 3 or 4 TV channels Smile

My past experience has taught me something else. Every time I've used a wraplist, the people have begun to complain about it.

A few times request, a reworked TV channels window for easier group switching etc:

The old one is still used for the widgets.

Im confused, where does this skin pull live streams from.

Sorry for such a noob question but I've only ever used addons like ivue, not pvr integrated into a skin.
