I'm not sure what you're trying to do but when I long press on the add-on icon I have the option to add the add-on to favorites. It's a function of the skin you're using, not the add-on.

Hmm, I’m not sure. It’s a cheapy Chinese Android box. I deleted the version of Kodi it came with and installed the most recent version from the Google Play store, but no luck. It just the default skin. Nothing fancy. I hadn’t tried it on my other machines running LibreElec and OSMC respectively.

I solved the issue, for whatever reason you can only add it in a specific point in the add-on browser. My other question is, I remember reading somewhere that the PBS kids live stream was an option but I don’t see it in the menu. Did that change?

Is anyone else suddenly having issues with this add-on? The videos take a few extra seconds to load, but then only play for about 5 seconds and lock up Kodi completely. You need to kill it in Task Manager to close out.

I've been using it for years without issue. This just popped up in the last few days. Going to the pbskids.org site on the same computer works just fine.

No issues here.

Once playback starts, the add-on's work is done, so I suspect your issue may lie elsewhere.

If you're on Windows, I'd suggest creating a new Windows user, then run Kodi with that user to get a fresh configuration. Install the add-on there and check if the problem persists.

I tried removing Kodi from that PC and reinstalling, logged in as a new user, and installed on 3 different Windows PCs. All are having the same issue with PBS Kids where the video will start and play for 10-15 seconds and then freeze up Kodi entirely. They're running Windows 10 and Windows 11, on a home and work network, and I keep getting the freezing.

One thing I noticed is that if I go to the PBS Kids website on the computers and play videos there, they have the WGBH bug in the corner since I'm in Boston. That never appeared in the video when using Kodi. Could PBS be doing something to kill my video stream since it doesn't know where I'm coming from? At this point I'm out of ideas of what the issue could be.

I'm curious if there is a way to get the full episode list, as it seems the addon is only pulling the top 8 episodes from PBS, which is static since the newer episodes are added to the bottom (noticing this with Sesame Street). Any ideas?

Kodi on Raspberry Pi 3, RetroPie install Buster, Kernel 5.10.103-v7+, Kodi v18.7

I have a slightly different issue, but maybe it is related.  On my Nvidia Shield it is not playing the video at all.  Instead, when I try to play the PBS Kids video, the loading symbol spins indefinitely until I press the stop button and then kodi locks up.  Strangely, the video plays fine if I am using Kodi on a Windows PC or if I try to open the URL directly on the Windows PC.  The kodi addon used to work fine, but I'm not sure if the issue is a result of a change at PBS or on the Nvidia Shield.  It probably started happening at least a month ago.  The Nvidia Shield is upgraded to Android 11, but I do not remember if the issue began while it was still on Android 9 or not.  I do not see anything obvious in the logs, but I've uploaded a debug log in case someone can identify a problem.  I also have libreelec on a raspberry pi and I will edit this post momentarily after I've tested it on there...

Edit: Playback works fine on libreelec 10.0.2 (running Kodi 19.4) on a raspberry pi. This appears to be an issue specific to Android / Shield unless it is due to some sort of corruption on my system.

Edit 2: After some searching on google for Android 11 specific issues, I was able to find that there are other users who experienced streaming issues since the Shield upgrade.  Apparently it is related to http2 and it can be resolved through the advancedsettings.xml file.  I did not have a file yet, so I created the following in the userdata folder and now it is playing fine for me.  @jeffgeno I'm not sure if it is the same issue you are experiencing, but it couldn't hurt to try.
Code:
<advancedsettings>
    <network>
        <disablehttp2>true</disablehttp2>
    </network>
</advancedsettings>

Looks like this is broken in Kodi 20 due to this change: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/19301

module 'xbmc' has no attribute 'translatePath'

I think you will find a workaround with this post:

Thanks! I didn't realize there was already a thread on this, but that fixed it.

This is a very late reply, but I can confirm that disabling https2 with an advancedsettings.xml file does fix the issue. Thanks for the hint!
