I am thinking this is a Kodi problem rather than a skill problem. I may go back to version 17. Another more expensive but less time consuming alternative would be to switch to a solid state drive for my 100+gig music library.

@bill-orange, a lot is missing from that log.. I'm not sure why, but I'd need the other bits to figure out where the issue lies.

For instance, this is the output I get for "shuffle playlist kids":

Code:

Which logging technique did you use? My attempt was the output of 'Zappa Tail Dev' communicating to Lambda.

It looks like where you redacted the last occurrence of the device ID you might have cut more than you should have.

That's possible. I tried again. This time I also included cloudwatch. I redacted the bare minimum.

The large delay I see there is simply the Playlist.Add call. I don't know why it would be slower in Kodi 18, but if that's what you're observing, then yes it might be better to go back to 17 if it matters a lot to you.

Whenever I try to save the Interaction Model on the dev site, I get an error:

Error: Failed building the interaction model.

I've copied/pasted the Sample Utterances and Intent Scheme numerous times. All custom slots are also in place and populated. Any ideas why this page won't save?

Is this your first time setting up the skill? If not, make sure you regenerate your slots -- there should be no more than 100 items in each slot.

Are you using the beta builder? If so, does it fail with the old one too?

No, I was running the old version before the Zappa change but I rebuilt from scratch. There were no limits on the old version for slot totals? Is this something new?

Thanks

@Xtropy, as we've added new features, we've had to progressively limit the number of items in each slot to avoid the issue you're seeing. This is an Amazon limitation. However, this doesn't affect match quality; in fact, that has improved over time.

In the future, please read over the upgrading instructions when updating to a new version.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did read over that file but it did not indicate this limitation only "There might be issues with large libraries" which was a bit vague. I ended up not using the Music slots and was able to save ok with over a thousand movies/tv shows. You're right, it's much more responsive. Thanks for the help

Just FYI, @bill-orange (and anyone else that cares), I think they broke something with regard to Playlist.Add, even in the latest Debian package for 17.3. 17.3-dmo2 is abysmally slow here, and 17.3-dmo1 is fine.

You shouldn't do this, unless you just don't use Kodi-Alexa for music at all. You really should re-generate your slot items as UPGRADING suggests.

At this point, the items in the slots matter very little. You will be better off letting the slot generator do its thing.
