My Kodibuntu installation plays a music CD automatically when inserted, but does nothing when a DVD is inserted. I suspect it not being mounted due to user restrictions as I played around with udisks to test system response. How do I start troubleshooting this behaviour? (FWIW Im connected to the installation over SSH). Thanks in advance.

AFAIK DVDs aren't play back automatically. Normally if you insert a DVD, a main menu option "Disc" or "Play Disc" should appear )or something similar). Does that happen?

No, the menu item does not appear when inserting a disc. I will check in the meantime the wordings in my skin in regards to autoplaying DVD's
