40-50% cp usage on i3 intel machine - kodi vanilla
#1
Hello,
on a fresh Kodi install, with no external addons and nothing going on, i get a 40% CPU usage.

I'd be happy if you could address me to the source of the problem as I am not very experienced to to it myself.

Thank you all!

best would be to ssh in and see what's going on there:

Code:
top

maybe it's not kodi.

You can try to disable the rss feeds and see if it helps.

Looks like: Vertical Blank Sync: Let driver decide (restart kodi after setting it) is not set + the rss feed as incubus said.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I did what you advised and from 40% i am at 8% now. Thank yo Smile Is 8% considered to be normal? If kodi is idle, why in heaven it should use 8% CPU?

Another question, from the log:
ERROR: CWinSystemX11::XErrorHandler: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter), type:0, serial:43, error_code:5, request_code:18 minor_code:0

Should I ignore this or I can do something?

All fine - don't run it under unity / gnome / whatever, no compositing and you can reduce it more.

8% at what clock rate Smile Percent CPU is a meaningless value without also knowing how much the clock has been idled down (or up).

+1 better find out the current clock and if kodi prevents the cpu from downclocking.
