Yes you can, but it's not the best implementation for it in Kodi 16. Try the Krypton builds flying around here (still in alpha) if you want to play around with HEVC codec.

Is DXVA2 supported for Intel?

Are you asking specifically about Krypton builds or about Windows builds in general, and specifically about HEVC? AIUI there are two routes used on Kodi for video playback. Mainline Kodi uses DXVA acceleration (and I think it uses DXVA2), and there are also the DSPlayer forks that use DirectShow.

Hi guys, I would like to point out my 4K HTPC selection link which is related to Intel NUC http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=272740&page=2 . I would be grateful for any tips. Not sure if I will choose this or some alternative because of HDMI 1.4 and 3-4 months that I have before I will make a purchase.

Hi, thanks for your answer, finally i've solved my kodi issue. It was of intel settings configuration, (in video menu, it has to be configured with "darker profile"), it takes me much time to find it, but now all is perfectly working with Windows 10. I hope i can enjoy kodi in my nuc with Ubuntu mate very soon! At the moment with Ubuntu Mate and kernel 4.6 is working with lines (refresh) when i play videos (both streaming and in storage).

But this is the intel issue with linux graphic card driver.

Perhaps late to the party. Finally there is an SKL version of our famous chromebox 2955U haswell Edition, with the 3955U celeron (no atom):

looks like a good intermediate buy with 4gb memory

Hi,

I want to ask the same question as nekrosoft13.
Is 10-Bit 4k HEVC playback already enabled in Krypton?

I use a Skylake CPU (HD Graphics 530) and Libreelec.
I tried the latest build from Milhouse but the videos are stuttering.

Is there already a working build?

Only on windows with krypton v17.

On linux there is currently no ffmpeg hevc 10 bit support and so that's not possible.

It only works on some AMLogic devices which do their own thing.

Edit: Skylake has _no_ hevc 10 bit support in hardware. There exists a GPU supported driver in windows only, which only works for 1080p max - so totally worthless for 4k 10 bit content. This is btw. the major reason why no one in this forums suggests spending a lot of money on skylake nucs as they are in no way future proof cause of this shortcoming.
