Nightly build / Developer thread
Latest nightly including updated Mediainfo seems to now parse the audio codecs wrongly -> Dolby TrueHD + Atmos appearing as "MLP FBA 8ch" and DTS-HD MA appearing as "DTS" etc etc.

Cheers,

-jj-

Yesss, still working on it.
MediaInfo changed everything with 18.08...
So i need to find a way, to detect the same value with old AND new version... what is kinda tricky for all the cases...

Just noticed that with latest nightly, EAC3 (Dolby Digital Plus) is being shown as AC3 (Dolby Digital), for example:

Code:
ID                                       : 2
Format                                   : E-AC-3
Format/Info                              : Enhanced AC-3
Commercial name                          : Dolby Digital Plus
Codec ID                                 : A_EAC3
Duration                                 : 1 h 21 min
Bit rate mode                            : Constant
Bit rate                                 : 224 kb/s
Channel(s)                               : 2 channels
Channel layout                           : L R
Sampling rate                            : 48.0 kHz
Frame rate                               : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF)
Compression mode                         : Lossy
Stream size                              : 130 MiB (3%)
Language                                 : English
Service kind                             : Complete Main
Default                                  : Yes
Forced                                   : No

Cheers,

Hello,
Yes it's the same EAC3 = AC3 (Version 2019-02-05)
Thank you
Hi

It's well detected now.
On the other hand I do not know if the nomage is wise, for folders and files...
Image

AC3 => AC-3
5.1 => AC-3-6ch

EAC3 => E-AC-3
2.0 => E-AC-3-2ch
Image
5.1 => E-AC-3-6ch
Image
Even without using the dashes as I do, the rendering is less readable
Image

Much better as before I think:
AC3 => AC3
5.1 => AC3-6ch

EAC3 => EAC3
5.1 => EAC3-6ch
Image
Or without using the dashes as I do:
EAC3 => EAC3
5.1 => EAC3 6ch
Image

It's just a personal preference, I do not know about other people.

thank you so much
Well, our current rule is, that we now always take the "Format" tag from mediaInfo 1:1 (see examples above)
This was the best approach for the last 3 versions of mediaInfo, always having the same consistent name.
(Except for DTS and TrueHD, we have some special handling for sub formats)

Problem is, that it changed quite hefty in recent versions, and while one format might look good, it doesn't for some other.

Although the E-AC-3 with dashes does look uncommon, i'm unsure if we should change it.
I see, that with previous versions of TMM, we ALWAYS removed the dashes... but that doesnt look good for others...
Like DTSHD-HRA...

So... what should we display?
A technical codec name?
with or without subformats?
maybe a common commercial name?
DTS? DTSHD? DTSHD-HRA? all the same...
AC3 even for EAC3, because only subformat?
[...]

Have no idea how to solve that... or AC3 can be the only exception without dash....
but we really do not want to implement some mappings (although this would be the only solution to fit all users)

Hello Myron,

Your explanation is very clear and it suits me!
You're right, pretend I did not say anything.

I will update everything with new info, rename folders and files, and update under Kodi.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me.
Ok, after a long period of testing and trying, we came to the conclusion, that we keep the v2 style of removing the dashes.
First of all, it is compatible to v2, and in some cases (like eac3, and others) it looks more familar without.
The only exception of this is DTS; since we're now correctly detecting the subformats, we keep the dashes here...

Do as you feel, we know you will make the right decisions and it will be perfect !

The DTS-ES sample i have is correctly identified in latest v3 nightly. 7 channels...
Havent checked icon, but iirc we do not have one for ES yet...
But lets discuss such things in "nightly thread"

Can you please export the complete mediainfo as XML?
On windows MI GUI there's an export function - check XML/sidecar.
Via CMD there might be an --output=xml option, to generate this...

Yes i can. Do you want me to upload the file or should i post the content here?

The DTS-ES icon is in the svg file i posted with all the DTS versions. I know it's not in there yet, just thought to mention it being thorough  Blush
no need to.
Already found the issue.
past 5 versions of mediainfo returned 3 different "channel" styles (for same file).
Had to find a consense how to get the highest amount... and i think i found one ^^

Ok Big Grin
Would be nice to have a "location" field that shows where I store the movie and a column for it. I have movies on several computers and also in binders. e.g. HD-105 or similar
I like to have a column in movies/series if video is in HDR
