I got a c2 to Greece from pollin.de

70€ odroid bundle + 12€ shipping cost - 5€ discount if register their newsletter= 77€

Thanks for the info Chris. A question here. Is it cheaper getting it from pollin, compared to getting it from HardKernel (Korea I presume)? Customs issues perhaps?

if you read this topic http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=...063e052cf1 all european buyers got custom fees so it's better not to buy from hardkernel directly. I don't think you 'll find better offer than pollin.de.

I agree with chrispe.
You run the risk of getting stung with Imports duties when delivered into Europe from S.Korea if buying direct from HardKernel, especially if you choose fast Fedex/UPS shipping.

Buying products from one of the distributors in Europe you already know upfront what Taxes are to be paid in the EuroZone countries.

Seems to be more expensive than pollin.de unfortunately.

Not only import duty - but in most EU countries you will also have VAT added (20% in the UK currently). VAT would be included on purchases made within the EU and not applied again. You may also have to pay a courier processing fee for the luxury of being billed for VAT and import duty too...

Whenever I buy from outside the EU I always add 20% and £20 in my head to cover these two costs - which is useful when comparing with EU sites that at first glance appear more expensive. I'm not into asking suppliers to under declare goods value etc. (which some will do fraudulently) or describe the shipments as a 'gift'. (Hospitals and schools need to be funded somehow...)

I read that playback has issues (pixelation, artifacts) on all S905 platforms.

Think most of these tests are still ITU 709 SDR colour - there might be some ITU 2020 stuff knocking around (no idea what Kodi and/or AMLogic does with this).

The C2 first editions had an S905 variant that does corrupt on some DVB content. There are reports - I think from wrxtasy - that newer C2s have the newer S905 variant that fixes this (though initialy, oddly, the hardkernel response in the forums was that there was no new S905 revision)

The Wetek boxes with S905s (Hub, Play 2 etc.) all have the DVB-friendly version.

For european customers pollin.de seems to be a good choice. Don't forget to get the 5€ newsletter voucher and then it should end in an quite reasonable price. Greece has shipping cost of about 12,95€ (Griechenland Versandkosten) You'll pay shipping cost only once obviously. I guess shipping should also take way shorter than from hardkernel directly.

I don't know about customs (chrispe will know certainly better), but as this is all within EU it might be free of charge (perhaps if staying below a certain value: 4 devices, wow Big Grin ). Noggins points with VAT should be considered also. Better inform yourself about this searching with greek keywords Smile

Power connector: Yes the Odroid does both. There is a jumper (AFAIR it was set default when I bought it) so I could plug in the microUSB power supply, which I used for my RPi2 before. If you pull this jumper you should be able to use this microUSB port as an additional (USB OTG) port for data.

Hi,

I've noticed some interesting infos about color coding / AML hardware capabilities here. Recently I had an opportunity to test samsung BD H8900 player. I set it up with my Onkyo AVR and Bravia TV. The device was average in every dimension, except one thing that really amazed me: it allowed to use 10bit ycbcr output, and it was correctly recognized by the rest of the setup! I did not noticed any diferrence in picture quality though. I knew that my TV is able to receive higher color resolution (but not HDR), and this BD player was the first device having such output.
I still do not fully understand the meaning of output color resolution: would we benefit from 10bit color with the media we already have (BD movies / non HDR content from NetFlix?). How does HDR standards differ from so called "deep color" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_dept...F48-bit.29) or xvYCC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XvYCC )? These are "old" technologies widely supported by existing hardware (as I learned from my test).
Will the C2 be ever able to use deep color / xvycc?

Is the C2 ok for french DVB: MPEG-4 1080i 25fps?
thanks

Yes. 1080i25 (aka 1080/50i) H264 (which is the version of MPEG4 used by DVB) is fine on the C2. (It's also fine on the Pi 2 and Pi 3)

Quick question, I'm interested in mapping "Live TV" to TV as both "Live TV" and "(My) TV" are currently mapped to "TV Shows", however, I'd like to be able to jump directly to TV, these are 2 different MCE remote codes, but they seem mapped to the same item currently. Can someone point me in the correct direction to making this change.

Thanks,
ERIC

Or you can even program a Harmony remote to emulate that IR remote as well, its in the Harmony database (as a HardKernel C1)

any neews of the OFF/ON version?

I may as well repost what I've written here as some of the info affects all AMLogic S905 platforms and users may find the ant-computing Wiki link below interesting reading.

October pre-release Testing

As users may know AMLogic themselves have been fooling all S9xx AMLogic Hardware sellers by reporting the CPU was running at 2.016GHz when in fact it was clock locked to a Max of 1.536 GHz.

A C2 user koschi first alerted HardKernel after he found out ant-computing had discovered discrepancies:
http://wiki.ant-computing.com/Choosing_a...build_farm

Anyway there is good news. C2 users and HardKernel themselves have done some torturous stress testing by running the CPU at various GHz until stability issues present themselves and have also tweaked u-boot and the AML Linux Kernel. You can see the results here:
http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=e...t_cpu_freq

I'm running this test release with a default 1.656GHz CPU Clock Freq, you may notice an increase in Kodi snappiness. Big Grin
(I'm personally using 1.752GHz)
Users can adjust this in the boot.ini file

Also Added:
- THIS tweak to the RTL8812AU WiFi driver.
- RTL8192EU WiFi driver also updated.
- all Hi10P Anime will default to ff-h264 Software decoding. 1080p Anime is still too much to Software decode.
- an old Kodi patch to fill Audio packets completely when resampling, this fixes Audio popping issues.
- you can now put LE on the C2 into a Hibernate mode as the ON/OFF C2 remote button will now work properly thx to @Kwiboo Big Grin
Users with Harmony remotes can also program them as a HardKernel C1 remote to get the same IR - ON/OFF functionality.

NOTE:
boot.ini had to be overwritten, due to the CPU Freq mods. If doing a .tar update boot.ini will all be updated automatically.

LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.1.0.Oct.test.tar
LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.1.0.Oct.test.img.gz

Results: with the HardKernel Firmware tweaking, I can now run a CPU clock speed greater than it was (deceptively) hard limited to before, and this now results in the fastest, snappiest AMLogic S905 LibreELEC Kodi platform available. Smile
