ODROID C2 S905 2GB RAM HDMI 2.0 $46
A heads up here for anyone contemplating purchasing an ODROID C2..
http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=144&t=25811

Quote:ODROID-C2 is out of stock now.
We expect to restart selling from the middle of March. We are so sorry for the inconvenience.

The DRAM is extremely shortage these days. We placed a DRAM order for this month production 12 weeks ago and expected to receive it in the middle of January.
But the vendor has failed to deliver it as of today, 8th of February. We do not have any inventory left after fulfilling the existing orders.
We will do our best to resume it earlier. Thank you for your understanding.
I heard some distributors and resellers still have stock.

Another bad news is the DRAM price has been rising a lot for several months.
When we compared it with last August, it is almost double now.
So we have to raise the ODROID C1/C2 board price in March because we can't absorb it anymore.
The price will be confirmed when the DRAM supplier updates the DRAM price.

Hello
How can i OC the odroid in libreelec? The same aa rpi3?

You use the boot.ini file found on the SD/eMMC card:
https://github.com/wrxtasy/LibreELEC.tv/...507f018b21

And you can overclock the RAM with a simple script that survives Reboots:

@wrxtasy - I really did not want to be spoon fed this information but with what you posted about overcolcking is what I have been searching for regarding the C2.

I was able to find a lot of information and guides to the overclocking of the Pi3 using the config file, I didn't bother about overclocking the SD reader but everything else was boosted. I overvolted by 4 and it was stable, if a little hot, for a long time.

But for the C2 I have not as yet found much in the way of guides or information on what values can be applied and tested for stability etc including values for the RAM and GPU, perhaps even adding extra voltage if required or possible.

Are you aware of any such guides...?

Thanks Smile

I know all the personal builds that I put out have the RAM Overclocking abilities in them meaning All the 7.1 Jarvis and 8.x Kodi Krypton media_builds.

No guides as such. With the default 1.680GHz value I set in the boot.ini above I have not have any complaints and this seems a stable setup when I use eMMC. I can go to 1.752GHz as well without issues.
Some C2 users are even reporting with latter C2 S905 SoC's being able to use 1.896GHz without a fan.

Really it up to everyone to experiment. The C2 will either boot or lockup I've found, it will not tip toe around, teasing you and then crash when using Kodi.

For a Historical context, this was the thread where AMLogic S9xx SoC GHz values were found to be deceptively marketed:
http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=23044

Guess what a bunch of AML S9xx sellers are still using for Marketing S9xx's: 2GHz

http://www.mi.com/en/mibox/#specs

At this point we have to call such sellers liars, as the AML S905(x) has been known for quite a while now to run standard at 1.536GHz

Yes copy and paste (if it makes it easier) - 1 line at a time.

OK but is busybox insert oft libreelec?or must i install it in libreelec.i want install last libreelec beta3

The Official LibreELEC Krypton beta releases and Raybuntu's as well (i think) do not have the Kernel modifications or full Busybox commands for RAM Overclocking yet. That is why I said my personal releases only of LE 7.1.x or LE 8.0 media_build.

The required Kernel mods or the proper Busybox commands need to be added to the official LE releases. Users cannot do this.

@wrxtasy - thanks again Smile

Advertising is as ambiguous and misleading as ever, that is why I really appreciate your regularly updated hardware guide.

As noted my Pi 3 has a few options for overclocking set and whilst it is helpful when playing hevc 720 or 1080p material it just causes too much heat to be generated as it is not hardware optimised for decoding.

There seems to be a few flavours of LibreELEC for the C2, in the Krypton variety. The Official one at 7.95.3 and yours at 8 Final and then Raybuntu's offerings as well Smile
Choice is nice, reminds me of the amazing efforts that Millhouse applies to the Pi builds for both Krypton and now with the Leia builds.

I'm not sure if a vanilla LibreELEC 7.95.3 could be the best start with the 16GB eMMC card when my C2 arrives. I'll need to read a little more to appreciate the differences.
