v17 Artwork Beef - automatically add extended artwork
@GrokMan Yeah, early versions of Artwork Beef didn't download files.

1a. Kodi's built-in Choose Artwork shows available artwork provided by scrapers when the item was scraped/scanned by Kodi, and also allows users to manually add a new artwork type and navigate the file system to set an image.
1b. Artwork Beef's dialog pulls a fresh list of artwork available from the web services, and does not allow manual entry of new art types nor manually select images.
1c. I'd like a way to add or update the list shown in Kodi's built-in dialog at some point, basically combining the two.

2. It doesn't overwrite files unless you manually select new artwork manually with Artwork Beef's Choose art dialog.

Probably my question has already been answered but I haven't been able to find anything by searching in the thread.

When Artwork Beef downloads images in the background, it automatically opens the detail of the tv show it just downloaded the artwork from.

For example. I'm watching a TV channel, Artwork Beef downloads images for "The Walking Dead" and automatically opens the details screen for the tv show, with the list of seasons. The same if I'm browsing Kodi's settings or browsing my library.

How can this behavior be avoided? It's very annoying.

Thank you!

Seems there's an open issue on github about this https://github.com/rmrector/script.artwo.../issues/36

Thanks

You're all barking up the wrong tree. You need to head over to fanart.tv and complain there.

Yes you are right. Guys at fanart.tv are looking into a solution

A rate limiting certainly does make sense for a high traffic site. Such a rate limiting would have to be supported in the client (artwork beef) as well, though, otherwise you could never be sure when the request hits a timeout/temporary ban. I guess we will have to wait for what the admin of fanart.tv decides to be the long term measure before @rmrector could change something here.

In the meantime I would personally recommend to change your Artwork Beef settings to get artwork from an alternative site. They will have noticed an increase in traffic already, too, and may implement measures like rate limiting or obligatory API keys.

Hi
This maybe a naive question but why does rotating fanart rely on fanart.tv. Why doesn't it use the centralised Movie sets folder created locally?

Question about NFO files and local artwork.

After using AB to successfully download artwork to local storage (same path as media), if I export my library to separate files, the created (or updated) NFO file lists the URL of all the art with the web urls (http:// image.tmdb.org/.... for example).   If I import the library to a second kodi pc, will it reference the local artwork or use the urls listed in the NFO?

Thanks for clearing this up.

The artwork links contained in the NFO Files are a backup in the event no local artwork is available. Kodi will always use Local first. As long as your artwork is correctly saved with the movie file, Kodi will find it.

Also, if you are Exporting and you have local artwork already available, then do not export the Images when asked or they may be overwritten with an inferior quality.

perfect, thanks.   I export, without artwork, primarily to update the NFO files (resume state, watched status, etc.).

It would be great if AB could remove all artwork including season posters/fanart/banners/landscape when you use "AB: Remove all artwork".
I have some seasonal fanart that I can not remove and it annoys me. I use Leia RC2.

It shouldn't, why do you think it does?

You can remove artwork from seasons with Kodi's built in "Choose art" dialog on the individual season. It is in the context menu under "Manage...".

folder.jpg vs thumb.jpg

After switching from Krypton to Leia i noticed that a lot of artists in my music library have no picture displayed anymore, even though i have a folder.jpg for each one.
I now have to click on an artist -> information -> and chose the local one, then it gets displayed again.

Artwork beef uses thumb.jpg instead of folder.jpg, could that be the cause of that issue?
Has this changed in general for Leia?

If i use CDartmanager, it also downloads folder.jpg instead of thumb.jpg,
so if i use artwork beef + CDartmanager in the future, i'll have to batch-rename folder images to thumb?

I'm confused.

I couldn't replace the artwork under "Choose art" (it still used the old image) but I could set it to "No art" and then tell AB to "add missing artwork" and then it updated!
