What remote device do you use?
#1
This was originally going to be "What keyboard do you use?" but why not expand it out a bit. Like others I looked into reviews about keyboards and remotes, but didn't really find anything too Kodi specific, so why not go to the horses mouth. Below is a guide to posting as to keep it informative for others and is by no means exhaustive as to what to post about.

Name: Derp
Remote Device: Keyboard / Remote
Media Device: NUC / RPi / FireStick
OS: Windows / Mac / Linux / OpenELEC
Connection type: USB / Bluetooth / Wireless / Combo

Pros: Battery life / method of connectivity / responsiveness / ease of setup / price
Cons: As above

Other: Device internet link / post suggestions/feedback

Name: Logitech K400R White
Remote Device: Keyboard
Media Device: NUC5i5
OS: OpenELEC
Connection type: Wireless
Pros: Good battery life, firm key press with minimal travel, can be stored upright (on top edge), responsive track pad and decent price point.
Cons: PnP support with Linux but no software support as there are some functions that could be greatly utilised, wireless connectivity is reasonable provided that you have direct line of sight of the receiver and not outside of about 5-6m.

Ooh this post is right in my alley, have tried 40+ remotes on Kodi and settled for one that has no cons and is fairly cheap.
Also using

Name: MCE remote (Philips SRM5100 style) on Stream Flirc module
Remote Device: remote
Media Device: Stream FC5
OS: Windows 10
Connection type: Infrared

Pros: Battery life, Best button layout of all remotes hands down, fits really well in the hand, cheap, availability, nice firm rubbery buttons with a good soft click, mce style remotes are the to go remotes for Kodi anyways
Cons: none, well not for me but it's IR and some people might not like it, also it's white but available in black as well (Lenovo and other OEMs)

That's rather awesome. I had no idea the Tivo remote could be used for that purpose.

Can anyone confirm if this works with Android on a generic Android box? I cannot find a non air mouse, with keyboard that has a Stop button. This appears to have everything one would need if it works with Android

Name: Blackweb
Remote Device: Keyboard / touchpad mouse
Media Device: RPi2
OS: OSMC
Connection type: Wireless
Pros: Good battery life, has on/off on back. Push button on back to pair with usb dongle. $24.88 from Wal-Mart.
Cons: Takes a little getting used to the touchpad.
Other: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Blackweb-Wirel...d/44459957 I'd say the bad reviews are from idiots. I've had two of these on different OSMC machines for 3 or 4 months with no problems.

Name: Logitech Harmony 200
Remote Device: Remote
Media Device: RPi2
OS: OSMC
Connection type: IR
Pros: Good battery life. Install software on Windows machine, setup the devices and it just works. Got it on sale on Woot, can't remember the price, but it was way less than normal. I use an original XBox dongle, with a cable bought off ebay that has a regular USB end on the other side.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Name: Logitech Harmony One
Remote Device: Remote
Media Device: RPi2
OS: OSMC
Connection type: IR
Pros: Battery life so far is good. Bought it at a thrift shop(yeah for paying $10.00 and another $15.00 for a new battery) and it had the classic battery overheat bulge. Two letter openers stuck under the battery to lift it up high enough to get needlenose pliers under it got the old battery out and a new battery from Amazon fixed that. I've left it off the charging base for days on end, sometimes over a week and no problems.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Name: OSMC Media Remote
Remote Device: Remote
Media Device: RPi2
OS: OSMC
Connection type: Wireless
Pros: Not line of sight like IR, so you don't have to aim it at anything. Doesn't use much power, uses standard cr2032 button batteries that can be picked up locally, even at a grocery store if needed. If used with OSMC, needs ZERO setup other than pluging in the USB dongle.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Name: Rii mini i6 RF-version with mini usb dongle
Remote Device: mini-keyboard / Remote
Media Device: HTPC
OS: Windows
Connection type: Wireless version

Pros:

++ can learn the IR codes from original remotes (works with my LG TV)
++ more responsive touchpad compared to my old rii mini-keyboard
+ perfect size
+ backlit

Cons:

- problems with distance (? mini usb dongle), so I had to use usb extension. Now it works fine.
- sleep mode: can't wake up instantly, I need to make a long press or 1 extra click. Very annoying =(
- not good battery life compared to my old rii mini-keyboard.
- not reliable on/off switch
